We specialise in delivering quality Fibre Optic and ICT & Security solutions with a special emphasis on the deployment of the latest technology solutions in order to remain as close to the technology curve as possible.
The Company has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Team Leader - Fibre Network Infrastructure to join our Auckland team.
This is a hands-on leadership role working alongside a small team, and we are specifically looking for someone with significant practical experience delivering greenfield UFB or similar network infrastructure builds.
This role is primarily based across the Auckland region, with occasional travel required from time to time.
About the role
As Team Leader, you will be responsible for leading and working alongside a small team delivering fibre network infastructure across greenfield residential subdivisions, together with the delivery of on-premise customer fibre connections.
You will need to be able to read and interpret network, subdivision and construction plans and translate these into practical site activities. You will understand all aspects of fibre network installation and be capable of taking ownership of the build from network infrastructure through to the customer connection.
The role will include:

- Planning and coordinating daily site activities to meet agreed work programmes.
- Installation and setup of telecommunications pits and chambers.

- Cutting in laterals and completing associated multiduct works.
- Hauling and blowing fibre cable and fibre bundles.
- Fibre cable installation, preparation, testing and associated network works.
- Coordinating fibre jointing, testing and commissioning activities.
- Delivering and overseeing customer lead-ins and on-premise fibre installations.
- Coordinating with developers, civil contractors and other trades to ensure telecommunications infrastructure is installed at the appropriate stage of the subdivision programme.
- Coordinating labour, plant, equipment and materials to maintain the required programme.
- Identifying material requirements in advance and ensuring the team has the resources required to maintain progress.
- Monitoring progress against work programmes and identifying potential delays or issues early.
- Ensuring completed works meet required quality documentation and network standards.

- Pit and chamber installation and setup.
- Laying and jointing multiduct systems.
- Cutting in and installing laterals.

- Hauling and blowing fibre cable and fibre bundles.
- Fibre testing and an understanding of network commissioning requirements.
- Customer lead-ins and on-premise fibre installations.
- The ability to confidently read and interpret fibre network, subdivision and construction plans.
- Experience coordinating subdivision works alongside developers, civil contractors and other trades.
- The ability to plan and coordinate labour, materials, plant and equipment across a work programme.
- The ability to lead a small team while remaining activity involved in the physical delivery of the work.
- Strong organisational and practical problem-solving skills.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- A methodical and accurate approach to completing and documenting works.
- A full NZ driver's licence.
Importantly, this is not solely a supervisory position. We are looking for someone with strong practical capability who can lead from the front, work alongside the team and take ownership of delivering the work.
Above all, we are looking for someone who can take ownership of a greenfield fibre build - understand the plans, determine what needs to happen next, coordinate the people and materials required, work effectively with other trades and ensure the network is delivered safely, efficiently and to the required standard.
What we offer
At MMC, we work across a variety of telecommunications and network projects, meaning your does not need to be limited to greenfield fibre infrastructure.
There will be opportunities to work across other work streams within the business, providing exposure to different types of telecommunications, and network projects and creating genuine development opportunities across a variety of areas.
We are offering ongoing training and development, competitive remuneration and the opportunity to be part of a small team where you can take real ownership of the work you deliver.
The health, safety and wellbeing of our people and those working around us remains a key part of how we operate, and we expect our Team Leader to demonstrate and reinforce this every day, consistent with the expectations in MMC's previous recruitment approach.
If you have a strong background in greenfield fibre network construction, enjoy being hands-on and are ready to take responsibility for both leading a small team and delivering quality network infrastructure, we'd like to hear from you.
If this sounds like you, then please apply attaching a Cover Letter and CV. We will get back to you once we have processed the applications.
Applicants for this position must have NZ citizenship, residency or a valid NZ work visa, so confirmation of these details must be included with your application. We will not be accepting any applications from individuals without validity to work in New Zealand.
