About Unioil Petroleum Philippines, Inc.

Unioil Petroleum Philippines, Inc. is one of the country’s leading independent downstream petroleum companies, operating a network of retail service stations and supplying fuels, lubricants, and petrochemical products to industrial, commercial, and retail customers across the Philippines. We are committed to delivering quality energy solutions while fostering a culture of excellence, integrity, and continuous growth.

Fuel the Future With Us

The Field Accountant is responsible for conducting periodic and weekly field visits to assigned company-operated gas stations (6 stations, Cebu) to verify the accuracy of cash transactions, fuel inventory, and compliance with company policies. The role is primarily field-based, with office reporting required 1–2 times per week, and reports to the Accounting Team - Head Office. The Field Accountant performs on-site verification only — recording and processing of transactions remain with Head Office (HO) Accounting.

How You’ll Drive Success

Cash Management and Verification

  • Conduct unannounced spot checks of daily cash reconciliations at assigned stations.
  • Verify cash collections against sales reports, deposit records, and supporting documents.
  • Perform physical cash counts and reconcile against accounting records.
  • Check that authorized float amounts are maintained and properly accounted for.
  • Investigate and document cash shortages, overages, or discrepancies; coordinate with station personnel for resolution.

Petty Cash Administration

  • Review, validate, and compile petty cash reimbursement requests.
  • Ensure claims are supported by complete, valid documentation (sales/service invoice, approved liquidation reports).
  • Verify expense classification complies with company policy.
  • Coordinate with HO Accounting for timely petty cash replenishment.

Inventory Verification

  • Conduct periodic physical dip readings and reconcile against system inventory records.
  • Flag variances outside the allowable threshold per the company's escalation policy (see separate SOP) and document root cause.
  • Cross-check delivery receipts against supplier invoices and system-recorded receipts.
  • Co-sign inventory count sheets with station personnel as an independent check.
  • Forward confirmed variances to HO Accounting for adjustment entry — Field Accountant does not post entries.

Compliance and Internal Control

  • Ensure station compliance with cash handling and documentation policies.
  • Recommend improvements to cash handling and documentation processes.
  • Monitor compliance with documentation, approvals, and record retention standards.
  • Report control deficiencies or policy violations to management.

Audit and Reporting

  • Prepare field audit reports covering cash and inventory findings, observations, and recommendations.
  • Maintain documentation of all field visits, cash counts, and inventory checks.
  • Monitor resolution of audit findings by station personnel.
  • Provide regular status updates to the Accounting Manager.

Operational Support

  • Assist station personnel with cash management and documentation policy questions.
  • Coordinate periodic inventory count scheduling with station managers to minimize operational disruption.
  • Support Accounting and Operations during special audits, investigations, and month-end close.
  • Perform other accounting/finance duties as assigned

The Expertise You Bring

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Accountancy, Accounting Technology, Finance, or related field.

Experience

  • 1–3 years' experience in accounting, auditing, treasury, or similar role.
  • Experience in retail, fuel, or multi-branch operations is an advantage.
  • Basic understanding of fuel volumetric measurement (dip reading, temperature correction) is an advantage.
  • Strong understanding of cash reconciliation, petty cash management, and internal controls

Skills & Competencies

  • Proficient in MS Excel and accounting systems.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • High level of integrity, attention to detail, and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Willing to travel frequently and conduct independent field visits across 6 Cebu stations.
