Field Application Engineer (MCU components)

Key Responsibilities

The Field Application Engineer will provide technical support, application development, product evaluation, and design assistance for semiconductor, electronic component, and system solution projects. The role involves close collaboration with customers, suppliers, and internal R&D teams to support product selection, schematic reviews, PCB design evaluation, debugging, and system integration.

Technical Support & Application Engineering

• Provide technical support for semiconductor and electronic component products.

• Assist customers with component selection and system architecture/design.

• Support product evaluation, software testing, debugging, and validation activities.

• Analyze customer requirements and recommend appropriate technical solutions.

• Develop:

  • Reference designs
  • Application notes
  • Technical documentation

• Conduct technical presentations, product demonstrations, and customer training sessions.

• Review schematics and PCB layouts, providing design recommendations where necessary.

• Support system integration, troubleshooting, and hardware/software debugging activities.

• Promote semiconductor and electronic solutions, including:

  • Microcontrollers (MCUs)
  • Power devices
  • Sensors
  • Connectivity solutions
  • Electronic components
  • Complete system solutions

• To achieve Design-in and Design-Win target (KPI) for electronic components, semiconductor solutions, MCU etc.

• Work closely with the sales team to achieve revenue and business growth targets.

• Provide pre-sales technical consultation and post-sales application support.

• Build and maintain strong technical relationships with customers and business partners

Requirements:

Education & Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related discipline.
• A Master's Degree is an added advantage.

Experience & Technical Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Embedded software development
  • MCU application development
  • Hardware design
  • Application Engineering
  • Field Application Engineering (FAE)
  • Technical Sales Engineering

• Hands-on experience with MCU evaluation kits.

• Experience in:

  • Schematic review
  • Circuit debugging
  • PCB layout analysis

• Strong knowledge of MCU peripherals, including:

  • ADC
  • PWM
  • Timer
  • DMA
  • UART
  • SPI
  • I²C
  • CAN
  • USB

• Familiarity with hardware debugging tools such as:

  • Oscilloscopes
  • Logic analyzers
  • Hardware debuggers

• Experience or exposure to the following application domains is preferred:

  • Power electronics
  • Motor control
  • Industrial automation
  • HVAC systems
  • Home appliances
  • IoT applications

• Ability to read and interpret electronic schematics.

• Experience supporting:

  • Product evaluations
  • Proof-of-concept (POC) projects
  • Customer development projects

• Background in the semiconductor, electronic components, or embedded solutions industry is highly preferred.
