Field Applications Engineer - Semiconductor / Optical Communication

We are looking for highly motivated field applications engineers to support the sales and marketing efforts of our ultra-high-speed optical and copper IC solutions. Core responsibilities include providing hands-on technical customer support, including on-site support at customer locations, as well as all elements necessary to verify, test and debug high-performance analog and optical semiconductor products.

Location & Travel:

• Based in Singapore.
• On-site customer support is a core part of this role. Frequent travel to customer sites in Greater China (typically several trips per month) is required.
• Occasional travel to engineering laboratory in Taipei, Taiwan may be required to perform product analysis and debug work as needed.

Minimum Qualification:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field
• Minimum 5+ years experience as a field applications engineer
• Direct hands-on FAE experience supporting semiconductor (IC) products — analog / mixed-signal devices — at customer accounts, including verification, test and debug
• Direct hands-on FAE experience supporting optical semiconductor products (e.g. optical transceivers/modules, TIAs, laser/modulator drivers, or DSP)
• Professional working proficiency in Mandarin Chinese to provide technical support to customers in Greater China, in addition to English
• Proficient with the use of lab equipment to test high speed mixed-signal circuits
• Proficiency in using high speed data communication test equipment
• Good knowledge and experience in programming equipment and data processing
• Good understanding of fundamental IC design and manufacturing concepts

Desired Qualification:

• 5-10 years experience as a field applications engineer
• A good mixed-signal and high-speed data communications background including a firm grasp of signal integrity concepts, e.g. filtering, equalization, etc.
• Familiarity with signal integrity tools like HFSS, EMPro, etc.
• Direct experience supporting optical module or system level customers in Asia, majority in Greater China
• Experience with silicon photonics (design, test or application support) is a plus
