Field Based Debt Recovery

About the role

In this role, you'll work directly with customers to talk through their debts with DebtManagers, get a real understanding of their financial situations, and set them up on repayment plans that actually work.

This isn't a desk job — you'll be out in the community, meeting people face-to-face, and finding outcomes that work for everyone involved.

What you'll be doing

• Visiting customers at their homes to talk through their financial situations and set up sustainable repayment plans
• Keeping an eye on active repayment plans and following up quickly if payments stop or default
• Travelling across New Zealand to meet customers face-to-face
• Keeping accurate records and making sure everything lines up with our Code of Conduct

We're looking for someone who is:

• Self-driven, hardworking and motivated!
• Empathetic and compassionate, but resilient under pressure
• Great at building rapport quickly with all kinds of people
• Solutions-oriented, with sound judgement and street smarts
• Comfortable working independently and rolling with change
• A strong negotiator with high integrity and discretion

You'll also need to be:

• Available to work 50 hours per week — flexibility and reliability are key
• Available to travel nationally one week per month
• Holding a full, clean New Zealand driver licence
• Able to pass a clean criminal history check
• Comfortable with everyday tech — email and mobile apps

Debt recovery experience isn't essential, but experience in a similar environment (corrections, other field-based community roles) is a definite plus.
