The ideal candidate is someone who is eager to learn, comfortable working in the field, and interested in taking on increasing levels of responsibility. You will work directly alongside experienced Superintendents and Area Managers while gaining practical experience in construction, project coordination, safety, quality control, scheduling, and field leadership.

This is a traveling position, and the successful candidate must be willing and able to travel regularly to active construction projects, potentially across multiple states.

Key Responsibilities

Field Operations

  • Assist the Superintendent with the day-to-day management of construction projects.
  • Learn and understand project plans, drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
  • Assist with coordinating subcontractors, vendors, deliveries, and site activities.
  • Monitor project progress and communicate updates to the Superintendent and Area Manager.
  • Assist with maintaining project schedules and identifying potential delays or issues.
  • Conduct regular site walks to monitor work progress, quality, and compliance with project requirements.
  • Assist with material tracking, inventory, and delivery coordination.
  • Help identify field conflicts, discrepancies, and potential construction issues.
  • Assist with documenting field conditions and communicating issues to the appropriate team members.
  • Complete daily reports, project documentation, photographs, and other required field records.

Safety & Quality

  • Follow and promote all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Assist in maintaining a safe and organized jobsite.
  • Identify unsafe conditions and communicate concerns to the Superintendent.
  • Assist with quality-control inspections and ensure work is being completed according to plans and specifications.
  • Help identify deficiencies and follow through on corrective actions.

Project Coordination

  • Communicate effectively with Superintendents, Project Managers, engineers, subcontractors, vendors, and other members of the project team.
  • Participate in project meetings and assist with documenting action items.
  • Develop an understanding of construction sequencing and how different trades and activities impact one another.
  • Assist with resolving day-to-day field issues and develop practical solutions under the direction of experienced leadership.
  • Maintain professional relationships with subcontractors, customers, and project partners.

Professional Development

This position is designed to provide progressive training and responsibility. As knowledge, skills, and field experience develop, responsibilities will increase accordingly.

Required

  • 21 years of age or older.
  • Willingness and ability to travel regularly for work.
  • Basic understanding of commercial construction.
  • Ability to read and understand construction drawings and plans.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced field environment.

  • Ability to work independently while also functioning as part of a team.
  • Willingness to learn and take direction from experienced construction professionals.
  • Ability to identify problems and seek practical solutions.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to work outdoors and on active construction jobsites.

Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Internship or previous experience with a general contractor, subcontractor, construction company, or jobsite.
  • Experience reading construction drawings, plans, and specifications.
  • Familiarity with construction scheduling and project documentation.
