Field Engineer – Heavy Equipment Autonomy

Actor Labs builds machine intelligence for heavy equipment. We put a rugged sensor and compute node on wheel loaders, excavators and haul trucks, record how skilled operators

work, and train models to run the machines. We need a Field Engineer who can install that hardware fast and clean, then show customers why it matters.

What you'll do

• Mount and wire our node (Jetson compute box, cameras, RTK GPS, LiDAR, IMU, CAN tap) on customer machines at quarries, mines and construction sites.

• Route and protect harnesses so they survive vibration, mud, water and pressure washing. Tap power and CAN without disturbing OEM systems.

• Bring the system online (Starlink, sensor checks, RTK fix, calibration) and hand the operator a working setup.

• Run live demos for site managers, fleet owners and dealers, and explain clearly what the product does for them.

• Train operators, be the customer's first call, and feed what you learn back to engineering.

What we're looking for

• Excellent, fast at routing systems: harnesses, loom, connectors, crimping, fusing, clean terminations. This is the core skill.

• 2+ years installing electronics on vehicles or heavy equipment (telematics, cameras, GPS guidance, radios, or similar).

• Comfortable tapping vehicle power and CAN/J1939. Basic networking and command-line skills.

• Confident with customers. You can run a demo and explain a technical product in plain words.

• Willing to travel 50–75%, climb on equipment, and work outdoors. Valid driver's license.

• Bonus: operator, mechanic or dealer field service background; RTK/LiDAR/machine control experience.

• $65,000 – $85,000 base, early-stage equity, all travel expenses and per diem covered.
