Field Engineer- Heavy Industrial Construction

Locations: Indiana | South Carolina | Texas (per diem available to non-local candidates)

Duration: 6+ Month Contract

Position Overview

We are seeking several Project Engineers to support major industrial construction projects at various locations.

Working closely with the customer and construction teams, Project Engineers will be responsible for developing, managing, and tracking construction documentation, installation packages, testing activities, turn-over deliverables, and field progress metrics.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and manage Installation Work Packages (IWPs)
• Develop and maintain Test Packages and Turn-Over Packages
• Conduct field walk-downs and document findings
• Review, update, and maintain red-line as-built drawings
• Research specifications, construction documents, and field notes
• Track project progress and earned value metrics
• Apply Rules of Credit to measure and report construction progress
• Coordinate with construction management, field supervision, and client representatives
• Provide clear written and verbal communication regarding project status, findings, and recommendations
• Defend technical and project-related conclusions using factual data and documentation
• Support project controls, scheduling, and reporting activities

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of Project Engineer, Field Engineer, or related construction experience
• Experience supporting heavy industrial construction projects
• Strong understanding of:
• Above-ground piping systems
• Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
• Isometric Drawings (ISOs)
• Workface Planning processes
• Construction progress tracking and reporting
• Proficiency with:
• Microsoft Excel
• Microsoft Word
• Microsoft Project
• Primavera P6 or similar scheduling software
• 3D modeling/viewing software
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced construction environment
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with project stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
• Experience with pharmaceutical, chemical, petrochemical, oil & gas, power, or other industrial construction projects
• Familiarity with earned value management and project controls methodologies
