Field Engineer

Tranzito is a mobility operator specializing in micromobility, curbside management, and multimodal infrastructure for cities. We work with government agencies to help manage transportation programs for the public good -- we operate bike parking rooms and smart bike racks, bus stops, and other transit amenities. We partner with cities and transit agencies, such as LADOT and LA Metro, to deploy and operate solutions that make citizens’ lives better and offer practical solutions to climate change.

Tranzito is seeking a hands-on Field Engineer to support the installation, maintenance, and repair of technology deployed in the public right-of-way, including parking and curbside systems, mobility hubs, kiosks, digital displays, and related infrastructure. This role is field-based and works closely with Tranzito’s Operations team to ensure systems remain safe, functional, and reliable.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance and reactive repairs on deployed hardware, including parking equipment, kiosks, ticketing machines, displays, sensors, and related electrical and network components

• Diagnose and resolve basic to intermediate technical issues involving power, connectivity, hardware components, and device configuration

• Install new equipment and support upgrades, replacements, and redeployments of existing assets

• Coordinate with Tranzito Operations, vendors, and subcontractors to complete assigned work orders within defined response times

• Maintain accurate service documentation, including work logs, photos, parts usage, and status updates, using Tranzito’s field reporting tools

• Follow all on-site safety requirements, traffic control procedures, and municipal regulations when working in the public right-of-way

• Support inspections, audits, or issue resolution efforts as requested by the Operations team

• Represent Tranzito professionally when working in public spaces and interacting with city staff, partners, and the general public

Required Experience & Qualifications

• Vocational School four-year program or an Associate or Bachelor's degree in electronics, mechanical systems, computer technology/engineering, or similar field or 5+ years experience in servicing electronic and/or mechanical systems in parking, transportation, telecom, or smart city environments

• Ability to work independently in the field and manage daily priorities with minimal supervision

• Clean driving record

Preferred Experience

• Low Voltage Technician certification or related experience

• A+ Certification or a similar IT certification

• Experience in an IT support role or Systems Administration role, knowledge of computer hardware and networking

• Experience working in municipal environments or the public right-of-way

• Familiarity with parking meters, kiosks, digital signage, or mobility infrastructure

• Experience supporting systems with uptime or SLA requirements

Reporting & Collaboration

This role reports to Tranzito’s Operations team and works closely with the Director of Operations to support system reliability, reporting accuracy, and timely issue resolution.

Work location

This position will be based in our Sun Valley office, with field work around Los Angeles. Typical work hours will be 8am - 4pm Monday through Friday. Work outside of these hours may be required.
