Field Operations Manager

About the role

Roadways is seeking a capable and practical Field Operations Manager to provide operational leadership across our Roadways Surfacing South and Roadways Line Marking South teams. Based in Glenorchy and reporting to the Regional Manager South, this role is responsible for supporting safe, efficient and high-quality field delivery across multiple crews. The position provides the key operational link between planning and execution, ensuring supervisors and teams have the direction, support and oversight required to deliver works to company standards, client expectations and contractual requirements. This is a field-focused leadership role suited to someone who understands civil construction operations, can lead supervisors with confidence, and knows how to drive consistency in safety, quality, productivity and daily delivery discipline.

Key responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day operational leadership across surfacing and line marking field operations
• Lead, support and hold supervisors accountable for delivery outcomes
• Support with the development crews
• Coordinate labour, plant, equipment, materials and subcontractor requirements
• Maintain visibility of productivity, quality, safety and delivery performance across crews
• Support effective handovers between project, engineering and operational teams
• Conduct site inspections, delivery reviews and quality checks
• Ensure field records, QA and safety documentation and operational reporting are completed accurately and on time
• Support supervisors to identify risks, resolve delivery issues and improve performance
• Maintain strong day-to-day communication with clients on operational delivery matters

About you

• Experience in civil construction, road surfacing, spray sealing, asphalt, line marking or similar field operations
• Previous experience leading supervisors, crews or field-based teams
• Strong understanding of safe work practices, quality requirements and site delivery expectations
• Ability to coordinate resources across multiple jobs, crews and priorities
• Practical problem-solving skills and the confidence to make sound operational decisions
• Strong communication skills with supervisors, crews, clients and internal stakeholders
• Good attention to detail in job records, QA and safety documentation and operational reporting
• A practical, visible and hands-on leadership style
