Job Overview
We are seeking a Field Operations Technician to perform on-site installation, testing, troubleshooting, and remediation of communications infrastructure. This includes coordinating with the NOC (Network Operations Center) during turn-ups and outages, validating service restoration, and updating ticketing systems to reflect work performed. Focuses on foundational installation and maintenance tasks under supervision. Executes work orders, assists with troubleshooting, and supports senior technicians during service activities. This position offers an exciting opportunity to apply your technical knowledge while providing top-tier customer service.
Responsibilities
· Install, configure, and maintain video surveillance cameras, alarm systems, access control hardware and software, intercoms, sensors, duress/panic buttons, and electrified door hardware.
· Pull, route, terminate and secure all low-voltage cabling: CAT5/CAT6, coaxial, fiber, power, and voice/data circuits.
· Perform system programming and firmware/software updates on cameras, control panels, keypads, network devices, and access control systems.
· Conduct preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and troubleshooting. Test alarm inputs, motion sensors, door contacts; ensure camera registration, clarity, signal strength, and recording integrity.
· Respond to service calls and emergency alarms—inspect, assess, and restore system functionality promptly.
· Read and interpret blueprints, architectural schematics, and layout drawings to determine optimal placemen of devices and routing of cables.
· Assist in retrofitting or upgrading existing systems to newer standards (e.g., analog to IP, older panels to newer ones).
· Install and maintain backup power systems (e.g., UPS, batteries) and ensure power redundancy for critical systems.
· Knowledge of system diagrams, test logs, maintenance records, change requests, and parts inventory.
· Conduct site security assessments: evaluate surveillance coverage, sensor placement, potential vulnerabilities, and recommend mitigations.
· Provide training and technical support to clients or facility staff on use, response procedures, and basic troubleshooting of installed systems.
· Maintain compliance with safety, electrical, and industry codes; follow policies regarding ladder use, fall prevention, grounding, etc.
