Field-Programmable Gate Arrays Engineer

A space and defense technology business, developing advanced communications systems for aerospace applications, are in need of an FPGA Engineer on a contract basis.

This role is based in Austin, Texas.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop FPGA logic for advanced communications systems
• Develop and verify RTL using VHDL, Verilog or SystemVerilog
• Support synthesis, implementation and timing closure
• Integrate FPGA designs with RF, digital electronics and embedded software
• Perform hardware bring-up, testing and debugging
• Contribute to design reviews and technical documentation

Required Experience

• Strong experience developing FPGA designs from requirements through to hardware validation
• Hands-on VHDL and/or Verilog/SystemVerilog experience
• Experience with FPGA simulation, verification and implementation tools
• Understanding of clock domain crossings, timing constraints and timing closure
• Experience integrating and debugging FPGA designs on physical hardware
• DSP, RF communications or high-speed interface experience would be beneficial
• Ability to take ownership of development and testing within a multidisciplinary engineering team
