Two Field Project Controls Analysts are required for a January 2027 start: one for the Jasper County compressor station and one for the Forrest County compressor station.
This is an early-career, field-based Project Controls opportunity focused primarily on the cost side of project controls rather than scheduling. The role works directly with Project Management, Construction, Accounting, Procurement, Scheduling, and contractor teams to track project costs, time and materials, progress, productivity, forecasting, and overall project performance throughout execution.
Candidates should have approximately 4 years of relevant experience and previous exposure to an active construction-site environment. The client is looking for hands-on individuals who are comfortable working with project data, troubleshooting issues, and supporting the day-to-day cost-control requirements of a busy field project.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide field-based cost control, including time-and-materials tracking, for the compressor station upgrade.
- Track and analyze project costs, progress, productivity, and performance.
- Support forecasting, earned value, change management, and cost reporting activities.
- Review contractor invoices, daily tickets, timesheets, and progress reports.
- Maintain project budgets, forecasts, cost reports, and tracking tools.
- Perform variance and trend analysis to identify project risks, discrepancies, and opportunities.
- Use Microsoft Excel, Power BI, and Microsoft Copilot as part of day-to-day project controls, reporting, data analysis, and problem solving.
- Troubleshoot reporting, data, and project-controls issues when information does not reconcile or processes do not work as expected.
- Coordinate closely with Construction, Project Management, Accounting, Procurement, Scheduling, and contractor teams.
- Prepare weekly and monthly reports, dashboards, and management updates.
Qualifications
- Approximately 4 years of project controls, cost control, construction, or related experience.
- Previous exposure to an active construction-site or field environment is required.
- Hands-on cost-control experience; candidates should be more cost-focused than scheduling-focused.
- Hands-on working experience with Microsoft Excel, Power BI, and Microsoft Copilot is required.
- Experience supporting industrial, energy, pipeline, midstream, LNG, power, compressor station, or similar construction projects is preferred.
- Bachelor's degree preferred in Business, Engineering, Construction Management, Finance, Project Management, or a related field. Relevant combinations of education and experience may also be considered.
- Valid driver's license required.
Candidate Profile
- Early-career Project Controls/Cost professional who wants to continue developing in a field construction environment.
- Actively uses Excel, Power BI, and Microsoft Copilot to perform the work rather than simply having familiarity with the software.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving ability, including investigating discrepancies and finding practical solutions.
- Proactive, self-motivated, detail-oriented, and willing to take ownership of day-to-day tasks.
- Comfortable interacting directly with construction personnel, contractors, and project stakeholders.
- Strong communicator and team player; personality, attitude, and team fit will be important during the interview process.
- Motivated to work a demanding 60-hour construction schedule and comfortable working 6 x 10-hour days onsite.
Work Environment
- Based at an active construction site in Mississippi.
- Frequent interaction with field construction and contractor teams.
