What they need
About Yumwoof
Yumwoof is a fast-growing premium dog food brand focused on creating better, healthier food for dogs. As we continue expanding our retail and distribution footprint across the U.S., we are looking for a motivated and passionate Field Sales Representative (based in California, Nevada, Washington, Oregon, and/or Florida) to help us build strong relationships with our retail partners and support our growth in the market.
About the Role
As a Field Sales Representative at Yumwoof, you will be the face of our brand for independent pet retailers in your territory.
Your primary responsibility will be to support our retail partners, work closely with our distributors and their sales teams, and make sure Yumwoof is represented successfully at store level.
This is a hands-on field role with approximately 75% travel within your assigned territory. You will spend significant time visiting stores, building relationships with store owners and managers, training retail teams, supporting distributor sales representatives, and identifying opportunities to grow Yumwoof within existing and new independent accounts. You will also actively prospect for new business through in-person visits to independent pet retailers within your territory.
This role can also be a great fit for someone currently working in pet retail. If you are an experienced store manager, assistant manager, department lead, or retail team member who knows the pet industry, understands how independent pet stores operate, and is ready to take the next step in your career, we would love to hear from you.
We care about your ability to connect with people, understand retailers, learn quickly, take ownership, and represent Yumwoof with enthusiasm.
What You'll Do
- Visit independent pet retailers throughout your assigned territory
- Build strong relationships with store owners, managers, and retail teams
- Educate and train store employees on Yumwoof products, ingredients, benefits, and key selling points
- Conduct product trainings, store visits, and in-store demonstrations
- Work closely with our distribution partners and participate in distributor sales rep ride-alongs
- Support distributor sales representatives with product knowledge and retailer conversations
- Help introduce Yumwoof to new retail locations within the territory
- Increase product visibility, placement, and assortment within existing accounts
- Ensure Yumwoof products, displays, and marketing materials are properly represented in stores
- Identify stores that need additional support, training, samples, or marketing materials
- Help drive reorders and improve sales performance within existing retail accounts
- Gather feedback from retailers and communicate market insights back to the Yumwoof team
- Track store visits, trainings, opportunities, and follow-up actions
- Attend distributor events, trade shows, retailer events, and other industry events as needed
- Collaborate closely with Yumwoof's Sales, Marketing, and Operations teams
Who We're Looking For
We are open to candidates coming from different backgrounds.
You could already be working in field sales or territory management, or you could be an experienced pet retail professional who is ready to move from working inside one store to building relationships with retailers across an entire territory.
You may be a great fit if you have:
- Experience in pet retail, field sales, territory sales, account management, or another customer-facing role
- Experience as a pet store manager, assistant manager, department lead, or experienced retail associate
- Strong knowledge of the pet industry and an understanding of how independent pet retailers operate
- A natural ability to build relationships and connect with different personalities
- Confidence talking about products and educating others
- A proactive, self-motivated approach to your work
- Strong organization and follow-up skills
- The ability to manage your own territory and schedule
- A willingness to travel regularly throughout your assigned territory
- A valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- A genuine passion for dogs, nutrition, and the pet industry
What Success Looks Like
Success in this role means building a territory where retailers know Yumwoof, understand our products, and are excited to recommend them to their customers.
You will help us increase:
- Active retail locations
- Retailer engagement and product knowledge
- Store-level product visibility
- Reorder rates and sales velocity
- Product assortment per store
- Distributor sales team engagement
- Quality and frequency of store visits and trainings
Ready for Your Next Step?
If you've built your experience on the retail floor and are wondering what comes next, this could be it.
Your knowledge of what happens inside a pet store is incredibly valuable. You understand the questions customers ask, what makes store teams recommend one product over another, what good brand support looks like, and what retailers actually need from their partners.
At Yumwoof, you'll have the opportunity to take that experience beyond a single store and use it to support retailers throughout your territory.
We're looking for someone who loves being out in the field, meeting people, building relationships, solving problems, and helping retailers succeed.
If that sounds like you, we'd love to meet you.
