Sales and Service Engineer – Material Testing Machines

1. Job Purpose

To promote and sell material testing machines, provide technical support to customers, carry out installation and commissioning, perform preventive maintenance and troubleshooting, and ensure customer satisfaction through reliable after-sales service.

2. Key Responsibilities

A. Sales and Business Development

• Identify and develop new business opportunities for material testing machines and related equipment.
• Visit customers, industries, laboratories, research institutions, and educational institutions to understand their technical requirements.
• Promote and sell Universal Testing Machines (UTMs), hardness testers, impact testing machines, fatigue testing machines, creep testing machines, and other material testing equipment.
• Prepare technical and commercial quotations in coordination with the sales team.
• Follow up on enquiries, quotations, and pending orders to achieve sales targets.
• Maintain good relationships with existing customers and develop new customer accounts.
• Coordinate with customers and principals/manufacturers regarding technical specifications and product requirements.
• Maintain customer visit reports, sales leads, and follow-up records.

B. Installation and Commissioning

• Install, commission, and demonstrate material testing machines at customer sites.
• Carry out machine setup, alignment, functional checks, and operational verification.
• Assist customers with software installation, configuration, and basic operating procedures.
• Conduct customer training on machine operation, testing methods, and routine maintenance.
• Ensure that machines are handed over to customers in proper working condition.

C. Service and Maintenance

• Perform preventive maintenance, breakdown maintenance, and troubleshooting of material testing machines.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, electronic, hydraulic, and software-related problems.
• Attend customer complaints and provide timely technical support.
• Carry out repairs, component replacement, and controller or software upgrades as required.
• Coordinate with the technical team and equipment manufacturers to resolve complex issues.
• Prepare service reports after each customer visit and maintain service records.
• Identify spare-parts requirements and recommend suitable solutions to customers.

D. Calibration and Technical Support

• Assist in the verification and calibration of material testing machines in accordance with applicable standards and procedures.
• Support force, displacement, speed, extensometer, hardness, and other relevant measurement-system checks, depending on the equipment and assigned responsibilities.
• Familiarize yourself with applicable ASTM, ISO, and Indian Standards relevant to material testing.
• Maintain appropriate technical documentation, service records, and equipment checklists.

3. Educational Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, or Mechatronics Engineering.
• Candidates with relevant technical qualifications and practical experience in material testing equipment will be preferred.

4. Experience

• Freshers with a strong technical background may apply.
• Experience in sales, installation, commissioning, maintenance, or servicing of material testing machines, industrial equipment, or laboratory instruments will be an advantage.

5. Required Skills

• Good technical knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems.
• Basic knowledge of hydraulics, electronics, sensors, controllers, and testing software.
• Good communication, presentation, and customer-handling skills.
• Ability to understand technical specifications and prepare quotations.
• Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Willingness to travel extensively for customer visits, installations, and service assignments.
• Basic computer skills, including MS Office, email, and preparation of technical reports.
• Ability to work independently and coordinate effectively with the sales and service team.

6. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

• Achievement of assigned sales targets.
• Generation of new enquiries and development of customer accounts.
• Timely completion of installations and commissioning.
• Response time and resolution rate for customer service calls.
• Customer satisfaction and retention.
• Quality and accuracy of service reports and documentation.
• Timely follow-up on quotations, service proposals, and spare-parts requirements.

7. Other Requirements

• Willingness to travel to customer locations across India as required.
• Valid driving licence, preferably with two-wheeler or four-wheeler driving experience.
• Professional conduct and a customer-oriented approach.
• Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines.

8. Reporting

The Sales and Service Engineer will report to the Sales and Service Manager or the designated management representative.

9. Compensation and Benefits

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications, experience, and technical competency. Travel expenses and other eligible allowances will be provided as per company policy.

Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
