To support our growing installed base and new customer projects across Australia, we are looking for a passionate and hands-on Field Service Engineer to join our team.

If you enjoy solving technical challenges, working directly with customers, traveling to different sites, and making a tangible impact on sustainability, this could be the opportunity for you.

The Role

As a Field Service Engineer, you will be responsible for the installation, commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and optimization of TOMRA's advanced sensor-based sorting systems across Australia.

You will act as a trusted technical expert for our customers, ensuring maximum equipment performance while building strong, long-term relationships.

This is a field-based position with regular travel across Australia and occasional international travel.

  • Deliver operator and maintenance training to customer teams.
  • Coordinate service activities, upgrades, and project-related work.
  • Prepare accurate service reports and documentation.
  • Identify opportunities for upgrades, improvements, and spare parts sales.
  • Collaborate closely with Project Management, Sales, and Technical Support teams.
  • Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • Qualification in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or a related Engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience supporting industrial equipment in a Field Service, Maintenance, or Technical Support environment.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills in electrical and electronic systems.
  • Solid mechanical aptitude and hands-on approach to problem-solving.
  • Strong communication and customer relationship skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident with unrestricted work rights.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with optical sorting technology.
  • Experience within the recycling industry.
  • Knowledge of industrial networking, IT systems, and cybersecurity concepts.
  • Additional language skills.

What Makes You Successful

You are someone who:

  • Enjoys solving complex technical problems.
  • Thrives in a customer-facing environment.
  • Takes ownership and works effectively without close supervision.
  • Communicates technical information in a clear and practical way.
  • Adapts quickly to changing priorities and challenging situations.
  • Is motivated by delivering outstanding customer experiences.
  • Has a genuine passion for engineering and technology.

Why Join TOMRA?

  • Work with innovative, industry-leading technology.
  • Be part of a company driving sustainability and the circular economy.
  • Join a global organization with an entrepreneurial and collaborative culture.
  • Experience a highly autonomous role with broad exposure to customers and projects.
  • Enjoy opportunities for professional development and international collaboration.
