What they need

Role: Field Service Engineer - HV

Department: Operation Location: Bengaluru, India Experience: 3–8 Years

Reporting To: Service Manager - HV

Your Team:

You’ll be working with the HV Bus After Sales / Service team in Bangalore.

This team has an infectious passion to build operations from the ground up and ensure customers have a seamless experience. They help deliver the promised experience to our customers across the bus fleet and bring alive the proposition of Exponent Enabled Rapid Charging so that our customers benefit from 15-minute rapid charging at all times.

Our philosophy:

Break. Believe. Build

Break stuff. Break assumptions. Break the thumb rule.

Believe in the team. Believe in the process. Believe through failures.

Build fast. Build passionately. Build to simplify.

Own it like you mean it.

What you’ll own:

You will ensure the smooth running of ground operations for Exponent After Sales Support across the EV bus fleet and help customers have a seamless, hassle-free experience. From uptime and field response to team leadership and relationship management, you will play a critical role in the team.

What you will do

After Sales Support

  • Provide timely on-site (or remote, where possible) field support to EV bus fleet customers experiencing vehicle issues, minimising vehicle downtime.
  • Ensure a turnaround time (TAT) for field service support and keep the fleet on the road.
  • Lead and manage a distributed field support team of Bus Field Technicians across multiple locations, assign tasks, ensure the team is properly trained, monitor performance standards, and maintain discipline and service quality.
  • Collaborate with internal teams — PQ, supply-chain, customer support — to coordinate spare parts, schedule services, manage upgrades or retrofits, and streamline service workflows across depots.
  • Oversee and monitor periodic maintenance schedules and service campaigns for the bus fleet, ensuring adherence and completion within timelines.
  • Diagnose and resolve faults — including electrical and mechanical issues related to battery and motor and other HV systems on high-voltage buses.
  • Collect and provide structured feedback to engineering / product teams based on field observations and recurring issues — contributing to continuous product and process improvement.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date documentation and service records across all locations.
  • Interface with fleet operators and customers professionally — explain technical issues clearly, guide them on safe operation and maintenance, and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and transparency in service delivery.
  • Coordinate with multiple external vendors for spares, logistics and on-ground support.
  • Be flexible and ready to travel frequently to depots and customer sites.

The ideal candidate requires

  • Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Automobile, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
  • 5–8 years of past experience in After Sales Operations and customer support (EV / commercial vehicle / bus experience preferred).
  • Proven experience leading and managing distributed field technician teams across multiple locations.
  • Structured problem-solving, detail-oriented, and a customer-first attitude.
  • Market knowledge (EVs, buses, charging station deployment, fleet logistics).
  • Data analytics skills / comfortable working with MS Excel, with the intuition to use data effectively.
  • Cross-functional experience in Service / Technical roles is a bonus.

What matters

  • Quality of work
  • Structured problem-solving
  • Dissatisfaction with mediocre work
  • Ability to multi-task and handle a dynamic working environment
  • Resilient attitude to bounce back after failing
