What they need

TOMRA develops sorting technologies that help make better use of the world’s resources across recycling, mining, and food. With a strong global footprint, we work every day to turn the circular economy into reality.

TOMRA Mining leverages sensor-based sorting solutions to improve recovery, enhance process efficiency, and reduce energy and water consumption—helping customers operate more sustainably and profitably.

We foster a culture of collaboration, purpose, and continuous improvement. Our teams are empowered to make a real impact through innovation, responsibility, and a shared commitment to sustainability.

We are currently seeking for a Field Service Engineer in Mining Service based in the Sydney region responsible for commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of our systems at customer sites.

The role involves extensive travel (150–180 days/year) across Australia and occasionally in the APAC region to remote customer sites, supporting equipment performance, providing remote assistance, and ensuring high customer satisfaction.

  • Contribute to a great workplace culture by exhibiting and encouraging positive behaviour.

  • Commitment to continuous improvement by providing feedback and suggestions on quality, efficiency and profitability.

  • Developing and maintaining strong customer relationships is critical to success in this role.

  • Field service work including installation, commissioning, testing, operation, maintenance, repair, breakdowns and upgrades of sorting equipment.

  • Providing expertise in the testing, configuration, upgrading and troubleshooting of returned customer equipment and sorting equipment located in the TOMRA Sydney test centre.

  • Regular on-site presence to ensure the requirements of customer service level agreements are successfully met.

  • Providing on call technical phone support and field response to equipment and customer issues including participation in a rostered weekend on-call schedule.

  • Training customer maintenance and service personnel.

  • Provide support for legacy sorting equipment including coordination and execution of in-house repairs

  • Responsible for delivery of effective field service work in terms of costs and timing.

  • Coordination with the customer and TOMRA project team for new sales projects for successful integration of the TOMRA sorting equipment into the customer plant, from point-of-sale to post-commissioning.

  • Interfacing where necessary with other internal teams such as Applications and Engineering Design teams, both within Australia and overseas.

  • An engineering qualification or trade with a strong inclination towards hands on skills in mechanical and electrical systems, both hardware and software.

  • Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues independently and efficiently

  • An electrical qualification or trade would be highly advantageous

  • 3 years proven experience in field service, maintenance, and troubleshooting of complex technical equipment

  • Customer-focused mindset with excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Willingness to travel extensively across Australia and occasionally internationally (approx. 150–180 days per year)

  • Fluency in English skills and and eventually other languages.

  • Comfortable using digital tools, service reporting systems, and remote diagnostics

Why This Role

This role puts you close to the customer, close to the product, and gives you direct impact on revenue and customer satisfaction. At the same time, you’ll work in an international environment with room to shape processes and improve how we operate.
