What they need
CNC FIELD SERVICE TECHNICIAN | Nationwide & International Traviel | Wichita Area
Enjoy being on the road? Take pride in solving problems and taking good care of customers?
Hornet Cutting Systems is looking for a Field Service Technician who enjoys hands-on technical work, new places, and helping customers get the most from their equipment. You’ll install, troubleshoot, repair, and train operators on CNC plasma, oxy-fuel, and waterjet cutting systems.
Our best technicians bring more than technical ability. They arrive prepared, keep their tools and work areas organized, explain things clearly, and treat customers with patience and respect. They take ownership of the job and follow through.
The travel lifestyle
Travel is a central part of this position, typically 60–75% annually, primarily throughout the United States with occasional international assignments.
Installations often require a full week away from home. Some assignments require several consecutive weeks away, including weekends. Schedules can change, and some trips come with short notice. This position does not provide a home-every-night or guaranteed home-every-weekend schedule.
When you are not traveling, you’ll work with our team at Hornet in Valley Center, Kansas, providing remote support, preparing for upcoming assignments, and supporting service operations.
You’ll be a strong fit if you:
- Enjoy frequent travel and can consistently accommodate extended time away from home.
- Bring strong mechanical aptitude and an interest in electrical systems, controls, and troubleshooting.
- Present yourself professionally through your appearance, conduct, and communication.
- Plan ahead and arrive with the tools, information, and materials needed for the assignment.
- Stay patient and respectful when customers are frustrated or equipment problems are difficult.
- Keep clear service notes and communicate findings, progress, and next steps.
- Know when to work independently and when to ask your team for support.
