Field Service Technician

Field Service Technician (m/f/d) | Essen, Germany | Full-time | €55,000 to €70,000 base

Primaire Consulting is partnering with a leading international business specialising in process analysis technology for the petrochemical, natural gas and gas industries. With over 30 years of experience designing custom analysis systems and software, their Essen service team is growing and they need another skilled Field Service Technician to join them.

This is a hands-on, customer-facing role. Expect around 2 to 3 days a week on the road (roughly 60% travel) at customer sites across Germany and neighbouring European countries, with the rest of your time based at the service centre in Essen.

What you'll be doing

• Maintaining, repairing and functionally testing analysis devices and systems at customer sites
• Independently diagnosing and fixing faults across mechanical, pneumatic and electrical systems
• Providing phone and technical support for malfunctions and user questions
• Carrying out diagnostics and repairs at the Essen service centre
• Supporting conversions, expansions and customer-specific adaptations of analysis systems
• Assisting with special plant construction, including mechanical assembly, piping and control cabinet wiring
• Working closely with internal teams on customer solutions
• Documenting all service, maintenance and support work carried out

What you'll bring

• Completed technical training, e.g. mechatronics, electronics, IT systems electronics, or chemical / lab technician
• Strong electronics knowledge with practical maintenance and repair experience
• A background in instrumentation, ideally analytical or process instrumentation
• Gas chromatography experience is a big plus
• Knowledge of remote maintenance and technical drawing software is an advantage
• Precision mechanics skills are an advantage
• A strong service mindset, enjoying direct customer contact and happy to travel
• Very good German (C1) and good English (B2)
• A valid Class B driving licence
