What they need

About NESTEC:

NESTEC is a full-service equipment design firm specializing in plant emissions-control solutions. Our teams design, supply, install, service, rebuild, and maintain industrial air-pollution-control equipment and related systems.

Position Summary:

The Field Service Technician provides on-site inspection, maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, commissioning, and startup support for NESTEC and other industrial emissions-control systems. The position combines independent field work with close collaboration across NESTEC project teams, customers, contractors, and plant personnel.

In addition to technical service responsibilities, the position may coordinate contractors and installation crews, support industrial construction and rebuild activities, monitor safety and quality requirements, and assist with commissioning and startup of large industrial systems. Assignments may include equipment rebuilds, outages, emergency service, and preventative maintenance.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Perform field inspections, troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, repairs, rebuilds, commissioning, startup, and performance testing on industrial equipment and emissions-control systems.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, controls, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues and implement or recommend effective corrective actions.
  • Perform startup testing and provide customer training on equipment features, operation, safety considerations, and general maintenance.
  • Read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, P&IDs, wiring diagrams, specifications, and equipment manuals.
  • Use voltmeters, ammeters, ohmmeters, precision measuring instruments, and other diagnostic tools safely and effectively.
  • Support PLC-based troubleshooting and coordinate with NESTEC engineering or controls personnel when required.
  • Inspect equipment for deficiencies, warranty concerns, unsafe conditions, and recommended repairs or upgrades.
  • Document service activities through detailed reports, photographs, measurements, punch lists, test results, and recommendations.
  • Coordinate directly with customers, contractors, installation crews, other service technicians, and NESTEC project teams to resolve technical and site issues.
  • When assigned, coordinate field activities and contractor work associated with equipment installation, rebuilds, maintenance, and startup.
  • Support jobsite safety-program compliance, quality control, and completion of approved work in accordance with applicable drawings and requirements.
  • Identify potential scope changes, additional work, and service opportunities and communicate them to NESTEC management before proceeding.
  • Maintain a professional customer-service focus while working independently or collaboratively on moderately complex assignments.
  • Perform other field-service and project-support duties consistent with the position.

Required Qualifications:

  • Three to five years of industrial field service, maintenance, commissioning, construction, electrical, mechanical, or related experience.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge, industrial maintenance skills, and practical troubleshooting ability.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings, schematics, and equipment documentation.
  • Industrial electrical experience and the ability to use electrical test equipment safely.
  • Experience working in manufacturing facilities or other industrial environments.
  • English proficiency sufficient for customer communication, safety coordination, technical documentation, and training.
  • Strong customer-service, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently, collaborate with technical teams, and manage changing field priorities.
  • Ability and willingness to travel more than 75% of the year and work on-call assignments, weekends, holidays, outages, and shutdown schedules as needed.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to meet NESTEC travel requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with thermal oxidizers, WESPs, scrubbers, burners, fans, pumps, instrumentation, process equipment, or other air-pollution-control systems.
  • Knowledge of programmable logic controllers and industrial control systems.
  • Industrial electrician or industrial mechanic experience.
  • Understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Welding, fabrication, or equipment-rebuild experience.
  • High-voltage safety knowledge.
  • Proficiency with precision measuring instruments.
  • Ability to operate scissor lifts and other industrial access equipment, subject to required training and authorization.
  • OSHA or comparable industrial safety training.
  • Technical sales aptitude and the ability to recognize and communicate service or upgrade opportunities.

Travel and Work Conditions:

This is a field-based position requiring travel more than 75% of the year. Assignments may include extended periods away from home, on-call work, evenings, weekends, holidays, plant outages, shutdowns, and urgent customer-service needs. Work schedules vary based on project and customer requirements. The position may involve work in active manufacturing facilities, construction areas, elevated work locations, and outdoor environments with noise, dust, and temperature extremes. Required personal protective equipment and site-specific safety requirements must be followed.
