  • Contract: 12 months extendable (2 years)
  • What is included: Salary, visa, medical insurance, benefits (schooling, accommodation, car), flights, and relocation package

About the client

  • Our client is a leading defence company in Saudi Arabia. They provide advanced technical support and maintenance services to the naval forces in the Kingdom.

The role

  • As a Field Service Technician / Sonar Technician, you’ll give on-site technical help to maintain a towed sonar system fitted on a fleet of naval corvettes. You may also be sent to other sites, depending on what the customer needs operationally.

Key responsibilities

  • Diagnostics and assessment: Run in-depth diagnostics to find technical faults in towed sonar systems, using the maintenance resources available.
  • Preventive maintenance: Carry out planned maintenance to cut downtime, extend equipment life and keep the systems available for operations. This covers organisational and intermediate levels (OLM/ILM).
  • Corrective maintenance: Carry out repairs and replace faulty components at OLM/ILM level, depending on which tools and spare parts are available on site.
  • Documentation and reporting: Keep detailed records of maintenance work, problems found and fixes made, and send regular reports up the chain of command.
  • Spare parts management: Help manage inventory by tracking all spare parts going in and out.
  • Compliance and safety: Make sure all maintenance follows OEM procedures and is done safely.
  • Engineering support planning: Help prepare the Annual Engineering Support Plan, which estimates the engineering support activities needed for each period.

Requirements

  • Senior Technician diploma in Mechanical, Electronic and/or Acoustic Maintenance
  • Specialised training and certification in maintaining towed or variable-depth sonar systems
  • At least 5 years’ experience with towed sonar systems and related equipment, covering all hardware and software elements
  • Advanced hands-on skill in operating, maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing towed sonar systems, through visual inspection, diagnostic software and test equipment
  • Experience using test equipment to test, tune, align, adjust and calibrate sonar equipment
  • Sonar operating knowledge. A background as a former naval Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO) is highly desirable.
  • Fluent English with excellent communication and relationship skills. French is an advantage, and Arabic or Spanish is a plus.
