Role Description The Field Service Technician is a full-time, hybrid role based in Indianapolis, IN, When not traveling to customer facilities. In this role, the technician installs, commissions, and maintains automated cutting machines, fabric spreaders, conveyorized tables, and related control systems at customer sites. Day-to-day responsibilities include performing scheduled and unscheduled equipment service, troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and software issues, and completing accurate service reports and documentation. The technician provides on-site and remote customer training on safe operation, basic maintenance, and use of Pathfinder’s CAD/CAM solutions, while collaborating with engineering and support teams to resolve complex technical problems. The position also involves travel to customer facilities, managing parts usage and inventory for service calls, and supporting continuous improvement of service processes and customer experience.

Qualifications

• Strong mechanical aptitude and experience with industrial machinery, automation equipment, or CNC systems, including installation, maintenance, and repair.
• Working knowledge of electrical systems, control panels, sensors, and basic diagnostics using tools such as multimeters and test equipment.
• Comfort with computer-based tools, including CAD/CAM or related manufacturing software, remote support tools, and standard office applications.
• Solid troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to independently identify root causes and implement practical solutions under time constraints.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills for customer interaction, training, and service documentation, with a customer-focused approach.
• Ability to travel regularly to customer sites, work safely around production equipment, and lift or move tools and parts as required for field service work.
• Relevant technical education or certification (e.g., industrial maintenance, mechatronics, electronics, mechanical engineering technology) preferred.
• Previous field service experience in manufacturing, automation, or textile/fabric processing environments is an advantage.
