Field Service Technician

About the Role

Mac-Tech is seeking a Laser Technician to install, service, and troubleshoot CNC fiber laser cutting equipment at customer facilities. You’ll combine hands-on technical work with operator training, helping customers use their equipment confidently and keep production running.

This role suits someone who enjoys solving equipment problems, working independently, and building strong customer relationships.

Responsibilities

• Install and commission laser cutting machines, including startup and functional testing.
• Diagnose electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and CNC control issues.
• Repair equipment, replace faulty components, and verify proper operation.
• Train operators on machine use and routine care.
• Interpret electrical schematics, assembly drawings, and service manuals.
• Explain findings, repairs, and next steps clearly to customers.
• Coordinate service needs with the Service Manager.
• Maintain accurate service reports, time records, and expense documentation.
• Assist with equipment demonstrations when needed.
• Follow established equipment and customer-site safety procedures.

Required Qualifications

• Experience troubleshooting and repairing industrial laser cutting equipment.
• Working knowledge of electrical, electromechanical, servo, and hydraulic systems.
• Familiarity with CNC controls and diagnostic tools (such as multimeters and oscilloscopes).
• Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with customers.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel regionally, including overnight stays.
• Availability for a Monday–Friday schedule with occasional overtime.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Precitec cutting heads or comparable systems.
• Technical training or certification in a related discipline.
• Familiarity with CAD/CAM software and service management systems.

Pay: $28.25 - $50.00 per hour
