Employment Type: Full-time

Pay: $52,000 - $62,000 + Benefits

About Mid-America Packaging

Mid-America Packaging (MAP) is an industrial packaging equipment distributor headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri. Together with our sister company, AJ Adhesives, Inc., we help manufacturers keep their production and packaging lines running with equipment from leading brands like Hitachi, Nordson, Valco Melton, Paxton-ITW, Squid Ink, and Eastey. Our customers count on us not just for equipment, but for the people who show up, diagnose the problem, and get their lines back up.

About the Role

We're looking for an entry-level Field Service Technician to join our St. Louis team. This is a hands-on role for someone who likes figuring out how machines work and fixing them when they don't. You'll learn to install, maintain, and troubleshoot hot-melt and liquid adhesive systems, industrial inkjet coders, labelers, and case sealers at customer plants across the region.

No prior field service experience is required. We'll provide paid, hands-on training alongside experienced technicians and manufacturer-led product training. If you've completed a technical program or have a solid mechanical or electrical foundation, we want to talk to you.

What You'll Do

  • Travel to customer manufacturing plants and facilities to diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues on production and packaging lines
  • Troubleshoot hot-melt and liquid adhesive application equipment to keep it running cleanly, accurately, and efficiently
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance to reduce unplanned downtime for our customers
  • Install and set up new equipment, and train customer operators on proper use and basic care
  • Service industrial coding and marking printers, labeling systems, and case sealers as you build your skill set
  • Document service calls, parts used, and recommendations clearly and accurately
  • Communicate with customers, sales reps, and our internal team to make sure every issue is fully resolved
  • Keep a well-organized service vehicle and parts inventory

What We're Looking For

  • Certificate, associate degree, or coursework in a technical field such as Industrial Technology, Control Systems Technology, Electrical/Electronics, Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, or Advanced Manufacturing
  • Basic understanding of mechanical systems, electrical circuits, and reading schematics or wiring diagrams
  • Comfort using hand tools, power tools, and a multimeter
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn
  • Good communication skills and a professional, customer-first attitude
  • Ability to work independently and manage your time on the road
  • Valid driver's license and personal vehicle with the ability to travel regionally

Nice to Have (Not Required)

  • Experience with PLCs, pneumatics, or motor controls
  • Prior work in a manufacturing, packaging, or industrial maintenance environment
  • Technical training or a background in a skilled trade

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to stand, kneel, bend, and climb for extended periods
  • Comfortable working in active manufacturing environments, which may include noise, heat, and cold

What We Offer

  • Paid, hands-on training with experienced technicians and equipment manufacturers
  • Mileage reimbursement
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Paid time off and holidays
  • A clear path to grow from entry-level tech to a skilled, specialized service technician
