Field Supervisor – Fence Construction

Smith Fence Company of Fort Myers is seeking an experienced, organized Field Supervisor to oversee daily fencing operations, coordinate crews, and ensure commercial and residential projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and according to project requirements.

This position is the link between the office, field crews, subcontractors, vendors, and customers. We are looking for someone who can stay ahead of the work rather than simply react to problems after they happen.

Key Responsibilities

• Schedule and coordinate installation crews and subcontractors based on project priorities, manpower, materials, and deadlines.
• Review upcoming jobs to confirm plans, scope, measurements, permits, materials, equipment, and site readiness before dispatching crews.
• Visit active job sites and oversee quality, productivity, safety, and compliance with project specifications.
• Track project progress and communicate schedule changes, delays, field conditions, and completion dates to management.
• Review and approve employee timecards, job hours, and labor allocation.
• Order fencing materials, concrete, hardware, equipment, rentals, and other project requirements.
• Create, track, and reconcile purchase orders and verify purchases are assigned to the correct project.
• Use QuickBooks Online to review projects, purchase orders, job-related expenses, and supporting documentation.
• Monitor estimated versus actual labor and material usage and identify jobs that are running over budget.
• Coordinate deliveries, equipment, trucks, tools, and material staging with the yard and field crews.
• Verify completed work before releasing projects for final billing.
• Manage punch lists, callbacks, warranty items, and corrective work.
• Maintain communication with project managers, general contractors, customers, inspectors, and the Smith Fence office.
• Enforce company safety standards and professional job-site conduct.

Qualifications

Construction field supervision experience is required. Fence, site work, commercial construction, or subcontractor experience is strongly preferred.

The ideal candidate has experience scheduling multiple crews, reading plans and scopes of work, purchasing construction materials, managing field labor, and keeping several active projects moving simultaneously.

Experience with QuickBooks Online, purchase orders, timecards, job costing, and project documentation is preferred.

Must have a valid driver's license, strong communication and leadership skills, basic computer proficiency, and the ability to solve field problems without losing control of the schedule or budget.

What Success Looks Like

Crews know where they are going and what they are doing before they leave the yard. Materials are ordered before they are needed. Timecards and job costs are accurate. Problems are communicated early. Projects stay on schedule. Completed work meets specifications the first time, minimizing callbacks and rework.

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week
