What they need
Position Overview
Junk King Greater Philadelphia is hiring a hands-on Field Operations Supervisor to oversee our daily crews, trucks, routes, warehouse operations, and field execution.
This is not a desk-only management position.
The right candidate will be actively involved in the operation from the beginning of the day—dispatching crews, making real-time staffing and routing decisions, visiting job sites, assisting employees in the field, completing smaller pickups and estimates, and making sure our people and equipment are being used efficiently.
The primary goal of this position is simple: make sure our scheduled work gets completed safely, professionally, efficiently, and profitably while taking ownership of routine operational decisions.
What You'll DoDaily Operations & Dispatch
- Arrive with the first scheduled crew and oversee morning dispatch.
- Confirm employee attendance and immediately address callouts and late arrivals.
- Assign and adjust crews, drivers, trucks, and routes based on the day's workload.
- Review scheduled jobs, locations, estimated sizes, pricing, and special requirements.
- Ensure trucks leave clean, fueled, properly equipped, inspected, and on time.
- Verify drivers complete required vehicle inspections.
- Monitor crews and job progress throughout the day.
- Adjust staffing and routes when schedules or operational needs change.
Field Leadership
- Visit jobsites to inspect performance, assist crews, and resolve problems.
- Step into an open driver or crew position when operationally necessary.
- Complete profitable single-item pickups that can safely be handled with a pickup truck.
- Conduct selected onsite estimates for larger or more complicated opportunities.
- Help employees improve their estimating, pricing, customer-service, and closing skills.
- Respond to customer-service concerns and jobsite issues.
- Hold employees accountable to company expectations while maintaining a professional working environment.
Trucks, Warehouse & Equipment
- Monitor truck productivity, route efficiency, labor hours, and job completion.
- Help manage warehouse operations and maintain organized processing areas.
- Identify items appropriate for resale, donation, recycling, scrap, or alternative disposal.
- Coordinate same-day handling of merchandise to prevent items from being left outside or damaged.
- Consolidate loads and identify opportunities to reduce disposal expenses.
- Learn to safely operate the Bobcat and other company equipment.
- Confirm trucks return, unload, refuel, and are prepared for the following day.
- Help develop the following day's crew and vehicle plan.
Communication & Reporting
- Maintain clear communication with field employees, customers, office staff, and management.
- Provide management with a concise morning operations update.
- Provide an end-of-day report covering completed work, staffing issues, equipment concerns, and priorities for the following day.
What We're Looking For
We want someone who can lead from the front. You should be comfortable making decisions, holding people accountable, and jumping in to help when the operation needs you.
The ideal candidate:
- Takes ownership instead of waiting for constant direction.
- Can supervise employees while also working alongside them.
- Makes practical decisions under pressure.
- Understands routing, labor efficiency, and job profitability.
- Holds employees accountable professionally and consistently.
- Communicates clearly with employees, customers, and management.
- Can organize changing schedules across multiple service territories.
- Recognizes when travel time, labor, or other costs could make a job unprofitable.
- Is comfortable working in a fast-paced, physical environment.
- Can maintain authority without creating unnecessary conflict.
- Wants the opportunity to grow into a larger operations-management role.
Preferred Experience
Experience in one or more of the following is strongly preferred:
- Junk removal
