Field Support Technician

Job summary

We are seeking a skilled Field Support Technician (Fiber) to handle the installation, testing, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of fiber optic networks across residential and commercial locations.

Job descriptions & requirements

Responsibilities:

• Install, splice, terminate, and maintain fiber optic cables.
• Handle both aerial and underground fiber deployments.
• Diagnose and resolve fiber faults, signal loss, and connectivity issues, identifying root causes and working with team members to fix them promptly.
• Use OTDR and other testing equipment to identify and troubleshoot faults.
• Support customer installations, repairs, and technical issues.
• Work with network management systems such as Smart OLT and RADIUS Manager for user provisioning, monitoring, and basic troubleshooting.
• Maintain accurate service & maintenance records with strong attention to detail.
• Follow all technical and safety standards.
• Communicate clearly & work effectively with technical & non-technical colleagues.
• Take a proactive, solution-oriented approach, anticipating problems before they escalate.
• Complete assigned tasks reliably, on time, and to standard.
• Learn new tools and processes quickly and contribute to team goals.
• Support company initiatives, values, and service-quality standards.

Requirements:

• 1–3 years' experience in fiber optics installation and maintenance.
• Hands-on experience with fiber splicing and termination.
• Experience using OTDR for fault detection.
• Experience with aerial and underground fiber deployment.
• Good troubleshooting, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Relevant Fiber Optics/Telecommunications certification is an advantage.
• Willingness to travel to field locations as required.
