Field Technical Coordinator

Overview

This role covers on-site information gathering and basic fault handling for solar PV and EV charging projects across the UK, acting as the link between our sites and our technical team. No electrical engineering background is required and full training on our equipment will be provided. The core requirements are strong communication skills, problem-solving ability and rapid on-site response.

Key Responsibilities

• Attend project sites following fault alerts to inspect conditions, take photographs, and record fault details.
• Liaise between UK clients and technical team, relaying information accurately and following issues through to resolution.
• Basic on-site tasks including switch resets, equipment status checks, visual inspections of enclosures and wiring. Only basic tasks that the employee has been trained and authorised to carry out will be required. Complex repairs and electrical work will be handled by the engineering team.
• Maintain regular client communication, provide progress updates and manage expectations.
• Prepare fault records/site reports, retain photos/logs.
• Use problem-solving skills to assess site issues, gather relevant information and determine appropriate next steps with the technical team.

Requirements

• Existing right to work full-time in UK. No visa sponsorship.
• Fluent English, able to deal with UK clients independently by phone/in person, clear written reports.
• Bachelor’s degree is desirable, but equivalent relevant experience will also be considered.
• Full UK driving licence, able to travel by car to sites across UK.
• Able to work in outdoor cabinet and switchgear environments, respond to occasional out-of-hours emergency call-outs.
• Competent with WhatsApp, Teams, email.
• Strong problem-solving and practical judgement skills.

Desirable

• Mandarin Chinese language ability is highly desirable. Our engineering team is based in China and the role involves regular real-time collaboration across teams, so bilingual ability will significantly improve both day-to-day effectiveness and scope for development in this role.
• Previous experience in a field service, maintenance or technical support role would be advantageous but is not essential.
• Full training will be provided for candidates who can demonstrate the right attitude and transferable skills.

Offer

• £28,000–£30,000 per year, depending on skills and experience.
