Field Technician – Contract-to-Hire

Job Overview

Who’s Your Tech LLC is seeking a dependable and technically capable Field Technician to support residential and small-business clients with technology installation, troubleshooting, and service.

Location: Phoenix, AZ area — this is a field-based position and is not remote. Technicians will travel to client homes and businesses throughout the Phoenix metropolitan area.

This hands-on, client-facing role may include home audio/video, Ring cameras and security devices, smart-home technology, networking and Wi-Fi, low-voltage cabling, and connected-home systems.

The ideal candidate has at least 2 years of related field experience, strong troubleshooting skills, excellent customer service, and a willingness to continue learning.

Responsibilities

• Install and troubleshoot TVs, speakers, home audio/video equipment, Ring devices, cameras, and smart-home technology
• Troubleshoot Wi-Fi, routers, networking equipment, and connected devices
• Run and terminate Ethernet and low-voltage cabling
• Assist with Control4 and other home automation systems
• Diagnose technical issues and determine the appropriate solution
• Test completed work and ensure systems are functioning properly
• Explain technology clearly to clients and provide basic system education
• Complete accurate job notes, record materials used, and communicate changes in job scope or equipment needs
• Maintain a clean, professional work area and treat client homes and property with care

Experience & Skills

Candidates should have:

• Excellent customer service and communication skills
• 2+ years of experience in AV, low voltage, networking, IT support, security systems, smart-home technology, or a related technical field
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Good technical aptitude and ability to learn new systems
• Ability to work independently in the field
• Professional appearance and attention to detail
• Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license
• Ability to travel throughout the Phoenix metro area
• Ability to safely work with tools, ladders, cabling, and technical equipment
• Ability to successfully complete a background check

Skills That Are a Plus

Experience with any of the following is beneficial:

• Control4 certification or Control4 experience
• Residential Home AV and home theater systems
• Ring products and security cameras
• Residential networking and Wi-Fi troubleshooting
• Home automation and connected-home technology
• Structured cabling, Ethernet termination, and low-voltage wiring

Experience in every area is not expected. We are especially interested in technicians who are dependable, technically curious, good with clients, and willing to grow their skills.

Client Service

Our technicians work inside clients’ homes and businesses and are trusted with their property, technology, networks, and personal spaces.

We expect technicians to be professional, respectful, punctual, and able to explain technical issues in easy-to-understand language. Technicians should listen carefully to the client, communicate changes in scope or timing, confirm systems are working properly, and leave the client confident with the service provided.

At Who’s Your Tech LLC, how we treat the client is just as important as the technical work we perform.

Contract-to-Hire & Compensation

This is a contract-to-hire position with an initial 90-day contract/probationary evaluation period.

Pay range: $22–$25 per hour, based on experience, certifications, and technical qualifications.

During the initial contract period:

• No company vehicle is provided
• Fuel/gas expenses are not reimbursed
• No employee benefits are provided
• Technician must provide reliable transportation and travel to client locations
• Successful completion of a background check is required

Following the 90-day period, the technician may be considered for transition to a regular employee position based on performance, technical capability, client service, reliability, and business needs.
