Here’s What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for experienced Field Technicians II & III who enjoys working outdoors, being part of a crew, and contributing to meaningful cultural resource work.

Elements of the Job

Field Technician II ($24/hr)

You’ll support Crew Leaders, Field Directors, and Principal Investigators on CRM projects throughout the Pacific Northwest, including:

• Archaeological survey, excavation, monitoring, testing, and data recovery
• Identifying and documenting cultural materials, features, and sites
• Recording field notes, photos, site information, and stratigraphy
• Using GPS/GIS, maps, compasses, and other field tools
• Supporting data quality and project documentation
• Mentoring Field Technician I staff

You’ll need at least one year or a full field season of experience and be comfortable working with minimal supervision.

Tribal Members: In-house CRM training plus at least one year of Field Technician or similar experience.

Other Applicants: Field school and/or field training plus at least one year or one full field season of similar experience.

Field Technician III ($26/hr)

Field Technician III is ready to take on advanced fieldwork, lead small field teams, and contribute to meaningful cultural resource work.

You’ll support Crew Leaders, Field Directors, and Principal Investigators on CRM projects throughout the Pacific Northwest, including:

• Archaeological survey, excavation, monitoring, and data recovery
• Identifying and documenting cultural materials, features, and sites
• Completing complex stratigraphy, feature recording, and mapping
• Using GPS/GIS, maps, compasses, and other field tools
• Contributing to site forms and technical reporting
• Leading small field teams and mentoring Field Technician I and II staff
• Supporting Tribal, state, and federal documentation protocols

In-house CRM training plus at least two field seasons of Field Technician or similar experience.

Field school and/or field training plus at least two field seasons of Field Technician or similar experience.

Field Technicians roles are active, outdoor, field-based jobs. You should be prepared to:

• Hike up to 10 miles and work outdoors for 8–10 hours in heat, cold, rain, wind, snow, dust, dense vegetation, uneven terrain, and areas with wildlife or livestock
• Spend extended periods in remote locations throughout the Pacific Northwest, with limited shade, shelter, or cell service
• Lift and carry up to 50 pounds of equipment and gear
