Field Technician

We are looking for skilled Field Installation Technicians (Levels 2, 3, and 4) **This role requires 100% US nationwide travel so applicants must be comfortable with extensive travel**

For Level 2 roles, candidates should have hands-on installation experience, including rack and stack, OTDR testing, and cabling (cable runs, termination, testing, and cable management/lacing). No previous Ciena experience is required.

For Levels 3 and 4 , candidates must have prior experience with Ciena 6500 , including installation, turn-up, and testing.

Details:

• Role Type: 6-month fixed-term contract (extendable, planned as long term assignment)
• Type = W-2 contract.
• Start Date: ASAP
• Travel: 90% (US nationwide) – must be comfortable with extensive travel, often for 4-6 week periods.

Responsibilities

• Addition or removal of common systems equipment hardware.
• Addition or removal of wiring and connections (on non-working equipment only).
• Lead verification/continuity testing.
• Analysis of job specifications and drawings.
• Prepare a Method of Procedure (MOP).
• Write Job Information Memorandums (JIMs).
• Resolve job specification and/or drawing problems.
• Complete cabling, lacing, labeling, and grounding to standards.
• Mark/correct office record drawings.
• In-process and final quality inspections.
• Completed Customer Experience Learning.
• Capable of leading a project and providing status updates and communicating with PM as required.
• Be capable of performing as the Installation Supplier’s in-charge person on Common Systems jobs.

Knowledge of specific Ciena product lines:

• 6500 (including submarine applications)
• 4200
• Carrier Ethernet

Equipment Installation Skills:

• Ability to understand and use site and product documentation.
• Understanding of labeling requirements and use of labeling equipment.
• Proper use of installation tools.
• Ciena FAST system knowledge.
• Understanding of basic AC/DC power and Power Verification.

Fundamental Technical Knowledge
