Complete Technology Solutions is a rapidly growing Managed Service Provider providing IT, VoIP, surveillance, and wireless network services both in and outside of Illinois. The IT Technician’s role is to ensure proper computer operation so that end users can accomplish business tasks and our top priority is finding the right person who aligns with our culture, mission and integrity-based values.
Headquartered in Sparta, Illinois, Complete Technology Solutions is seeking individuals that are passionate about technology to join our client-focused and collaborative team. Standard work hours are typically Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm, with paid overtime included as needed.
At CTS, a New Charter Company, we are seeking a Field Technician in or around the Sparta, IL area (in other companies this person could hold the title of On-Site IT Field Technician, Level 2 Field Service Technician, IT Support Field Technician) to install and support client technology, network infrastructure, and physical security systems.
Location/Travel: This is a hybrid, but mainly a travel-based role with daily visits to client sites, primarily across Southern Illinois and Southern Missouri. Regularly onsite visits to our Sparta office can also be expected.
In this role, you will partner with client contacts, dispatch coordinators, and remote technical teams to resolve on-site incidents and deliver installations involving Windows and macOS devices, Microsoft 365, Active Directory/Entra ID, CCTV, door access systems, and small network equipment. You will also support cabling, equipment refreshes, and accurate ticket and asset documentation.
To be successful in this role, you will combine mid-tier troubleshooting skills with outstanding customer service, efficient field execution, and the ability to explain solutions clearly. You will identify the correct parts from the product catalog, assess site requirements for estimates, and provide accurate quantities for quotes while escalating complex issues with thorough notes.
We understand that great candidates may not meet every requirement listed. If you meet around 70% of the qualifications and are excited about this role, we encourage you to apply.
General job duties include:
Resolve dispatched on-site tickets involving hardware, software, network connectivity, and physical security systems
Install, configure, and troubleshoot workstations, laptops, printers, phones, small network equipment, CCTV, and door access devices
Perform structured cabling installation and termination; diagnose TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and Wi-Fi issues
Support office moves, user onboarding, device deployments, and equipment refreshes at client locations
Identify parts and inventory accurately; conduct pre-field assessments and provide material quantities for estimates and quotes
Record work performed, ticket updates, and asset information accurately; coordinate with remote teams and escalate complex incidents with clear documentation
Communicate professionally with customers, explain fixes in plain language, and complete field assignments efficiently
Required Experience
1–3 years of IT support or field service experience, with Level 2 troubleshooting capabilities beyond basic help desk support
Hands-on experience with CCTV, door access systems, and cabling installation and termination
Working knowledge of Windows, macOS, Microsoft 365, and Active Directory/Entra ID
Understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, Wi-Fi troubleshooting, and small network equipment
Strong customer service skills, a valid driver’s license, and reliable transportation for travel between client sites
Preferred Experience
CompTIA A+ or Network+ certification
Prior experience in a managed services provider (MSP) environment
Field technician experience supporting multiple client locations
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform work in ceiling spaces and server closets
Working Conditions
Daily travel between client sites is required. Occasional after-hours or weekend work may be needed
Compensation
The compensation is expected to start at $20.00 per hour, including prevailing wage benefits. Our offer will be determined by multiple factors including candidate experience and expertise and may vary from the amount listed above.
