JOB SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for supervising and coordinating activities of workers engaged in Water Treatment Plant operations and does analysis of drinking water samples.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Knowledge of the chemical, physical, and biological principles of Water Treatment Systems, Water Distribution Systems, and Water Laboratory Analysis.
• Knowledge of operational practices and procedures of the Water Treatment System.
• Knowledge of the equipment, materials, operating practices and maintenance of the Water Treatment System.
• Skill in utilizing word processing spread sheet, wastewater process control, and preventive maintenance computer software programs.
• Skill in using laboratory equipment and in following correct laboratory procedures.
• Skill in maintaining records, preparing written and computerized reports on plant operations, and analyzing laboratory reports.
• Skill in oral and written communications.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to the basic skills typically associated with the completion of a year of college level courses in the related field.

• Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two year.

• Possession of a State of Georgia Class I Water System Operator Certification.

• Must already possess or obtain National Incident Management Systems (NIMS) 100 and 700 within three (3) months of employment.

• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license from state of residency.
