About the Company

Joining our team, you’ll play an active part in helping to deliver meaningful impact. At Oxoid Remel Microbiology, acquired from Thermo Fisher Scientific, we play a crucial role in accurate identification and targeted treatment for diseases, ensuring food and beverage safety, and supporting pharmaceutical manufacturing integrity. Our products and services are designed to meet the highest standards of quality and performance, helping our customers achieve their objectives efficiently and effectively.

About the Role

As the business continues to evolve, we are seeking a Finance & Accounting Analyst to support the day-to-day accounting, reporting and finance operations of the Group’s holding companies and contribute to the continued development of the Finance organisation overall.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Finance & Accounting, you will have a hands-on role supporting the day-to-day accounting and end-to-end financial reporting of the Group’s holding companies.

You will ensure transactions are accurately recorded, reconciled and supported, while contributing to monthly, quarterly and annual reporting, statutory accounts, year-end audits and financial reviews.

Working closely with the wider Finance team, Tax, Treasury, Shared Services, external providers and auditors, you will also support the transition of finance activities into the new organisation and help establish effective and sustainable finance processes.

What You'll Do

  • Perform day-to-day accounting and transaction processing for the Group’s holding companies, ensuring accurate and complete general ledger records.
  • Support end-to-end monthly, quarterly and annual close and reporting activities.
  • Prepare and post journals, accruals, prepayments and other accounting entries with appropriate supporting documentation.
  • Prepare balance sheet and intercompany reconciliations, investigating and resolving differences.
  • Account for holding-company activities including intercompany transactions, corporate costs, investments, financing, interest and dividends.
  • Prepare financial reporting submissions, supporting schedules and analysis in line with Group requirements and deadlines.
  • Support preparation of statutory financial statements, year-end audits and financial reviews, including audit schedules and information requests.
  • Work with Tax, Treasury, Shared Services and external providers to support accounting and reporting requirements.
  • Perform assigned financial controls and maintain appropriate supporting evidence and audit trails.
  • Support the Finance transition and separation programme, including knowledge transfer, process documentation, data validation and testing. Support improvements to finance processes, systems and reporting as the new organisation is established.

What We're Looking For

  • Training towards or holding an Accounting, Finance, Business or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Relevant experience in accounting, finance, audit or financial operations.
  • Experience with general ledger accounting, journals, reconciliations and financial close processes.
  • Good understanding of accounting principles and financial controls.
  • Exposure to financial reporting, statutory accounts and/or external audit would be advantageous.
  • Experience in a multinational, shared services or changing business environment would be beneficial.
  • Good working knowledge of ERP systems; SAP experience would be advantageous.
  • Strong Excel skills and confidence working with financial data.
  • Part-qualified or studying towards ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent would be advantageous but is not essential.

Knowledge, Skills & Competencies

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Good accounting, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Well organised and able to manage multiple activities and deadlines.
  • Hands-on approach and comfortable working with transactions, reconciliations and financial data.
  • Able to investigate issues and follow them through to resolution.
  • Comfortable working in a changing and evolving environment.
  • Good communication and collaboration skills. Proactive, accountable and willing to learn.
