Finance and Accounting Director

Strategic Financial Leadership

• Provide strategic financial advice and recommendations to Executive Committee to support business growth, profitability, and long-term financial sustainability.
• Translate business strategies and operating plans into financial targets, budgets, forecasts, and performance measures.
• Lead financial evaluations of major investments, expansion projects, capital expenditures, new business initiatives, and other strategic opportunities.
• Provide financial scenarios, sensitivity analyses, and recommendations to support key management decisions.
• Serve as a strong financial business partner to Operations, Merchandising, Procurement, Supply Chain, Marketing, HR, Engineering, and other business units.

Financial Planning, Budgeting & Business Performance

• Lead the annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning processes.
• Establish appropriate financial targets and performance measures across business units and branches.
• Monitor actual performance against budget, forecast, and prior-year results and identify significant variances, risks, and opportunities.
• Drive meaningful analysis of sales, gross margin, operating expenses, employee cost, inventory, working capital, store productivity, and profitability.
• Develop management dashboards and financial reports that provide Executive Committee with timely and actionable business insights.
• Recommend corrective actions and performance improvement initiatives based on financial analysis.

Accounting & Financial Reporting

• Provide overall leadership and governance over the company's accounting operations.
• Ensure accurate, complete, and timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
• Ensure proper management of the General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, fixed assets, accruals, reconciliations, and other accounting processes.
• Ensure timely month-end and year-end closing and maintain high standards of financial data integrity.
• Ensure accounting practices are compliant with applicable Philippine Financial Reporting Standards (PFRS) and company policies.
• Strengthen balance sheet management and ensure proper reconciliation and substantiation of material accounts.

Treasury, Cash Flow & Working Capital

• Provide strategic oversight of the company's cash position, liquidity, and working capital requirements.
• Lead cash flow forecasting and ensure sufficient liquidity to support day-to-day operations and strategic investments.
• Optimize the management of receivables, payables, inventory, and other working capital components.
• Oversee banking relationships, credit facilities, financing arrangements, and other treasury requirements.
• Establish appropriate controls over cash, disbursements, collections, and banking transactions.

Retail Profitability & Commercial Finance

• Partner with Operations and Merchandising in evaluating branch, category, and business-unit profitability.
• Provide financial insights on pricing, margins, promotions, markdowns, inventory productivity, operating costs, and other key retail performance drivers.
• Identify opportunities to improve gross margin, reduce operating costs, increase asset productivity, and improve return on investment.
• Evaluate the financial performance of existing stores and provide financial assessment for proposed store expansions, renovations, and capital projects.
• Strengthen financial accountability among business and functional leaders through relevant KPIs and performance reviews.

Taxation, Compliance & Governance

• Ensure compliance with BIR, SEC, local government, and other applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.
• Oversee tax planning, tax compliance, and the timely filing and payment of statutory obligations.
• Coordinate with external auditors, tax consultants, banks, and regulatory agencies as required.
• Maintain strong financial governance and ensure that financial policies, approval authorities, and control procedures are consistently implemented.

Internal Controls & Risk Management

• Establish and continuously strengthen financial controls to protect company assets and ensure the integrity of financial information.
• Identify material financial, operational, compliance, and control risks and recommend appropriate mitigation measures.
• Ensure appropriate segregation of duties and approval controls across financial processes.
• Work closely with Internal Audit and other control functions in addressing audit findings and strengthening processes.
• Drive timely resolution of financial control issues and recurring audit observations.

Finance Transformation & Process Improvement

• Lead initiatives to improve the efficiency, accuracy, and responsiveness of Finance and Accounting processes.
• Drive automation, standardization, and simplification of financial processes and reporting.
• Maximize the effective use of ERP, accounting, business intelligence, and other financial systems.
• Establish appropriate Finance KPIs, service levels, reporting standards, and closing timelines.
• Build a Finance organization capable of providing both strong financial control and high-quality business insights.

People Leadership

• Lead, coach, and develop the Finance and Accounting organization.
• Establish clear accountabilities, performance standards, and development plans for Finance team members.
• Develop strong succession and capability-building plans for critical Finance positions.
• Foster a culture of integrity, accountability, analytical thinking, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Accountancy; Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is required.
• At least 10 years of progressive experience in Finance and Accounting, with substantial experience in a senior management or leadership capacity.
• Strong preference for candidates with experience in retail, supermarket, department store, FMCG, distribution, or other multi-site/multi-branch businesses.
• Proven experience leading major Finance areas including financial reporting, FP&A, budgeting, treasury, taxation, financial controls, and compliance.
• Strong understanding of PFRS, Philippine taxation, BIR and SEC requirements, and generally accepted financial control practices.
• Strong commercial and business acumen with demonstrated ability to translate financial information into actionable business recommendations.
• Experience in ERP implementation, finance transformation, automation, or financial process improvement is highly desirable.
• Advanced financial modeling, analytical, and management reporting capabilities.
• Strong leadership, communication, influencing, and stakeholder-management skills.
• Comfortable working directly with senior executives and presenting financial insights and recommendations to Executive Committee.
• High level of integrity, sound judgment, and accountability.
