What they need

Job Overview

Following the impending retirement of our current Finance and Administration Assistant, an excellent opportunity has arisen to join the Finance Department at Muirfield.

This position will play an important role in supporting the day-to-day financial and administrative processes of the Department, while also contributing to the smooth operation of the wider Club.

The Honourable Company of Edinburgh Golfers has records dating back to 1744 and has been based at its privately owned Muirfield Links since 1891. Muirfield is consistently recognised as one of the world’s leading golf courses and has hosted The Open Championship on 16 occasions.

Main duties:

  • Administering the purchase ledger, including processing purchase invoices and arranging payments to suppliers.
  • Supporting the Finance & Payroll Administrator with financial processes, reconciliations and Member account statements.
  • Reconciling end-of-day reports against bank statements.
  • Carrying out monthly ledger analysis.
  • Undertaking general administrative duties, including postage, banking and preparation for the monthly stocktake.
  • Responding professionally to enquiries from Members, visitors, suppliers and members of the public, and completing the associated administration.
  • Providing occasional reception cover at the Front Desk.
  • Undertaking other reasonable administrative duties as required.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Communicates clearly and professionally with colleagues, Members, suppliers and other stakeholders.
  • Has excellent IT, numeracy and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrates strong planning and organisational abilities.
  • Works accurately, with excellent attention to detail and consistently high standards.
  • Can manage competing priorities and work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Has experience of using accounting software, although this is desirable rather than essential.
  • Has an understanding of golf or experience of working within a Members’ Club, although this is also desirable rather than essential.

Hours

  • This is a part-time role, based on 20-30 hours per week, working three days out of five, Monday to Friday.

What we offer in return:

  • Attractive salary, commensurate with responsibilities of the position.
  • A monthly share in the staff gratuity fund.
  • 10% pension contribution and life assurance benefits.
  • Opportunities for training and development.
  • Access to play golf at Muirfield.
  • 30 days paid annual leave per year.

Pay: £25,420.00-£39,820.00 per year
