What they need
The Sage Centre for Leadership Excellence is a leadership platform convening senior executives, founders, and institutional leaders to navigate complex, high-stakes decisions shaping organizations and society. As Sage CLE grows, we are seeking a Finance and Operations Assistant to serve as the operational backbone of the organization. This role is responsible for ensuring that the organization runs smoothly, professionally, and with institutional discipline, across finance, accounting, people operations, governance, logistics, and vendor management.
Key Responsibilities
1. Accounting & Financial Oversight
This is the primary focus of the role. Working within accounting systems and templates already established, the Assistant will maintain monthly payroll records, compute PAYE deductions for each employee, and ensure timely LIRS remittance using the approved payroll template. They will manage office budgets, track day-to-day expenditure, and coordinate fund requests and procurement documentation in line with approved policies. The role also encompasses maintaining the organization's Accounting Policies and Compliance Framework, supporting the preparation of Year-End Financial Statements, and ensuring the organization remains fully compliant with all statutory financial and tax obligations on an ongoing basis.
2. Operations & Office Management
The Assistant will maintain operational policies, documentation systems, and internal workflows. They will oversee facilities, IT infrastructure, and asset management, and manage calendars and internal coordination across teams and leadership.
3. Staff & Team Management
The Assistant will maintain Human Resources Documentation — including employment contracts, staff records, and HR policies — and coordinate recruitment, onboarding, and performance management, alongside providing day-to-day supervision to support staff and volunteers.
4. Vendor Sourcing & Management
The Assistant will source and shortlist vendors, review quotations, process invoices and payment requests, and maintain an up-to-date vendor database.
5. Legal, Compliance & Governance Support
The Assistant will support Statutory Employer Registration and Compliance, track statutory filings and compliance deadlines, schedule board meetings, compile board packs, and coordinate the recording of minutes.
Who You Are
We are looking for a candidate with a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field, accompanied by a minimum of 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in finance, accounting, and operations management. The ideal candidate possesses strong operational leadership capacity and is able to take ownership and drive execution. They should be highly organized, efficient, and demonstrate excellent attention to detail. We value builders of systems and structures who are comfortable working without supervision and exhibit strong follow-through. The candidate must be capable of working effectively under tight deadlines and managing multiple competing demands simultaneously without compromising quality or accuracy. A proactive, solutions-oriented mindset is essential, and the candidate must be professional, discreet, and confident working with senior leaders and boards.
What We Offer
We offer a competitive salary and benefits package within a central, high-impact role in a dynamic and mission-driven organization. This position provides the chance to build a powerful global network of leaders and change-makers, offering the deep satisfaction of knowing your work directly contributes to transforming leadership and governance in West Africa.
