Finance Assistant

About the role

We are seeking a Finance Assistant to join our team at our Pioneer West Region office on a full-time basis. In this role, you will provide essential support to our accounting and finance operations, working closely with senior accounting professionals to ensure the smooth running of our financial processes. This position is fundamental to maintaining the accuracy and efficiency of our financial records and reporting, contributing directly to the company's ability to deliver high-quality services to our clients.

What you'll be doing

• Processing and recording financial transactions, including invoices, receipts and payments
• Assisting with the preparation and reconciliation of accounts and financial statements
• Maintaining accurate and organised financial records and documentation
• Supporting the accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
• Assisting with bank reconciliations and general ledger maintenance
• Preparing supporting schedules and documentation for audit and compliance purposes
• Liaising with clients and internal teams to obtain necessary financial information
• Assisting with month-end and year-end closing procedures
• Supporting the finance team with ad hoc administrative and analytical tasks as required

What we're looking for

• A qualification in accounting, bookkeeping or a related financial discipline, or equivalent practical experience
• Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
• Strong attention to detail and an ability to maintain accuracy when working with financial data
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks effectively
• Sound understanding of basic accounting principles and financial processes
• Reliable communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with team members and external stakeholders
• Professional approach to confidential financial information
• Willingness to learn and develop your accounting skills in a supportive environment
• Experience with accounts payable and accounts receivable processes would be advantageous
