Finance Assistant – Mitchells Nutrition

Part-time | Monday to Thursday | Tauranga (Mount Maunganui) Office Based Role

We’re looking for a capable and detail focused Finance Assistant to take ownership of key day to day finance activities and help keep the numbers behind our growing business on track.

From accounts and payroll through to reconciliations, inventory and financial reporting support, this is a varied role for someone who enjoys getting into the detail, solving discrepancies and finding better ways to get things done.

What you’ll be doing:
You’ll play an important role in keeping Mitchells Nutrition’s day to day finance function accurate, organised and running smoothly.

• Completing bank, credit card and payment platform reconciliations.
• Taking ownership of accounts payable and accounts receivable, including supplier invoices, payments, customer receipts, debtor follow up and maintaining accurate creditor and debtor records.
• Maintaining accurate financial records and reconciliations within Xero.
• Managing the end to end payroll process, including payroll records, leave, PAYE, KiwiSaver and payroll reconciliations.
• Supporting GST preparation, month end reconciliations and financial reporting.
• Working across Xero, Cin7, Shopify, Airwallex, Smartly and other business systems to ensure financial information flows accurately between platforms.
• Supporting inventory and cost administration, including purchase orders, stock receipts, supplier invoices, inventory reconciliations and investigating discrepancies across Cin7 and Xero.
• Supporting the CFO with budgets, forecasts, management reporting and year end requirements.
• Identifying opportunities to simplify, improve and automate recurring finance processes.
• Maintaining organised finance records and providing general finance administration support to the wider Mitchells Nutrition team.

**About you:**You’ll be someone who genuinely enjoys the detail. You’re comfortable working across different systems, take ownership of your work and know that a finance function only works well when the numbers are accurate and things get done on time.

Ideally, you’ll bring:

• Strong working knowledge of Xero.
• Practical experience in an accounts, bookkeeping, finance administration or similar position.
• Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable and reconciliations.
• Payroll experience and confidence working with payroll records and processes.
• Experience with Cin7, Shopify or similar inventory and ecommerce systems would be an advantage.
• An understanding of GST and everyday accounting processes.
• Strong Excel or spreadsheet skills.
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
• Confidence investigating discrepancies and solving problems rather than simply processing transactions.
• Strong organisation and time management skills.
• A proactive mindset and an interest in finding smarter, more efficient ways of doing things.
