Position: Finance Assistant

Location: Volks, Lagos.

Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Finance Assistant to support the company’s financial operations. The ideal candidate must have personally handled or actively participated in the preparation and filing of company tax returns and statutory obligations, rather than having only theoretical knowledge of taxation, and strong accounting and reconciliation skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate accounting records, invoices, receipts and supporting financial documents.

• Prepare and maintain trial balances, financial reports and statutory accounts.

• Assist in Preparing and filing applicable company tax returns and statutory obligations, including VAT, Withholding Tax, PAYE and applicable corporate income tax obligations.

• Perform bank, receivables, payables and inventory reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.

• Support audit processes by preparing schedules, financial records and other required documentation.

• Liaise with tax consultants, auditors and relevant internal departments when required.

• Ensure financial and statutory records are properly organized, maintained and readily accessible.

Requirements

• BSc/HND in Accounting, Finance, Taxation or a related field.

• Minimum of 2 years’ relevant accounting and tax experience.

• Practical experience in preparing and filing company tax returns and statutory tax obligations (VAT, WHT, PAYE)

• Strong bookkeeping, reconciliation and financial reporting skills.

• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including SUMIFS, lookup formulas and PivotTables.

• Experience with QuickBooks, Sage or similar accounting software is an advantage.

• ICAN or ACCA qualification/progress is preferred but not mandatory.

• Strong attention to detail, analytical ability and record-keeping skills.

• Ability to work independently and communicate financial information and discrepancies clearly.
