Finance Assistant

Vercity are looking for a detail-focused Finance Assistant to support a busy finance function. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys variety, thrives in a fast-paced environment and wants to play a key role in maintaining accurate financial operations while contributing to process improvements and business success across a portfolio of PE-backed, UK infrastructure projects.

Reporting to the Financial Controller your duties will include:

What you'll be doing

• Manage purchase and sales ledgers, ensuring invoices, receipts, payment runs and cash transactions are processed accurately and on time
• Support month-end activities, including bank, cashbook and ledger reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting and robust controls
• Assist with VAT, CIS and other statutory returns, maintaining clear audit trails and supporting documentation
• Provide audit support through the preparation of schedules, documentation and responses to auditor queries
• Contribute to continuous improvement of finance processes, systems and reporting while supporting the wider finance team

About you

• A minimum of 12 months finance experience in a role covering purchase and sales ledger, bank recs and cashbooks
• Strong Excel skills and confidence working with finance and accounting systems
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to build relationships across all levels of the business
• Highly organised, able to manage multiple priorities and consistently meet deadlines
• A proactive, reliable approach with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
• Positive, adaptable and eager to learn, with a passion for improving processes and driving efficiency
