Finance Business Analyst

Job Summary

The Finance Business Analyst will support financial planning, analysis, reporting, and business decision-making by analyzing financial and operational data. The role will work closely with Finance and other business units to evaluate financial performance, assess business opportunities, and provide data-driven insights to support strategic decisions.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned spreadsheet user with strong financial analysis skills and hands-on experience using Internal Rate of Return (IRR) to evaluate and support business and investment decisions. Experience with Net Present Value (NPV) computation is highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze financial and operational data to support business and management decision-making.
• Prepare financial reports, dashboards, forecasts, and management presentations.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
• Monitor actual financial performance against budgets, forecasts, and business targets.
• Perform financial analysis using Internal Rate of Return (IRR) to evaluate investment opportunities, projects, and business decisions.
• Apply Net Present Value (NPV) analysis to assess the financial viability and potential returns of projects or investments.
• Develop and maintain financial models, spreadsheets, and analytical tools to support decision-making.
• Identify trends, variances, risks, and opportunities and provide actionable recommendations.
• Conduct profitability, investment return, and financial feasibility analyses.
• Gather, validate, and analyze data from various financial and business sources.
• Collaborate with Finance and other departments to understand business requirements and financial needs.
• Assist in improving financial processes, reporting procedures, and internal controls.
• Translate business requirements into financial and analytical solutions.
• Support data-driven initiatives and process improvement projects.
• Ensure accuracy, consistency, and integrity of financial information and reports.
• Prepare ad hoc financial analyses and reports as required by management.
• Perform other finance and business analysis-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
• At least 3 years of relevant experience in financial analysis, business analysis, FP&A, accounting, investment analysis, or a related field.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel or other spreadsheet applications, with experience building and working with complex financial models.
• Hands-on experience using IRR (Internal Rate of Return) to evaluate financial or investment decisions is required.
• Experience with NPV (Net Present Value) computation and investment appraisal is a strong advantage.
• Strong understanding of financial statements, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
• Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to interpret financial data and translate findings into clear business recommendations.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work with large amounts of data.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to present financial information and insights clearly to both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
• Experience with financial systems, ERP platforms, or business intelligence tools is an advantage.

Preferred Skills

• Advanced proficiency in Excel, including financial formulas, pivot tables, lookup functions, data analysis, and financial modeling.
• Strong understanding of IRR, NPV, cash flow analysis, and investment evaluation techniques.
• Experience in budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and scenario analysis.
• Experience in process improvement and requirements gathering.
• Ability to translate complex financial data into clear and actionable business insights.
• Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Highly analytical, detail-oriented, and commercially minded.
