Finance Controller

The Finance Controller will be responsible for overseeing the company's complete finance and accounting function, ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, regulatory compliance, cash-flow management, budgeting, and financial planning.

The role requires a finance professional with strong experience in IT services/BPO, client billing, revenue recognition, MIS, taxation, audits, working capital, and financial controls. The individual will work closely with senior management and business teams to provide financial insights and support strategic decision-making.

The candidate should have hands-on experience with Tally, Freshworks, cloud-based finance/accounting platforms, and ChatGPT/AI tools for finance-related reporting, analysis, documentation, automation, and process improvement.

Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Accounting & Reporting

• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including AP, AR, GL, reconciliations, and month-end/year-end closing.
• Ensure accurate and timely preparation of P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow statements, and management reports.
• Establish and maintain strong financial controls and accounting processes.
• Review financial transactions and ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
• Monitor revenue, expenses, margins, and profitability across business units/projects.
• Maintain accurate financial records using Tally/Tally Prime and other accounting platforms.

BPO & IT Services Finance

• Manage financial operations related to BPO, IT services, technology projects, and client engagements.
• Oversee client billing based on contracts, milestones, hours, resources, SLAs, or agreed commercial terms.
• Monitor unbilled revenue, receivables, collections, credit notes, and billing discrepancies.
• Work closely with Operations, Sales, HR, and Delivery teams to track project profitability and costs.
• Analyze employee-related costs, utilization, project margins, and operational expenses.
• Manage financial processes for domestic and international client engagements.

Budgeting & Financial Planning

• Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, and periodic financial planning.
• Prepare monthly/quarterly financial forecasts and variance analysis.
• Monitor actuals against budgets and identify areas of cost optimization.
• Provide management with actionable financial insights and business performance analysis.
• Develop financial models to support business planning and decision-making.

Cash Flow & Working Capital

• Monitor cash flow, working capital, receivables, payables, and collections.
• Develop and monitor collection plans for outstanding client payments.
• Maintain healthy working-capital levels and support cash-flow forecasting.
• Coordinate with internal teams and clients regarding billing and payment-related issues.
• Monitor payment cycles and identify potential cash-flow risks.

Taxation & Statutory Compliance

• Ensure timely compliance with applicable GST, TDS, Income Tax, PF, and other statutory requirements.
• Coordinate with external consultants, auditors, tax professionals, and regulatory authorities.
• Review GST reconciliations, TDS compliance, tax filings, and related documentation.
• Ensure proper maintenance of financial and statutory records.
• Stay updated with applicable changes in taxation and regulatory requirements.

Audit & Internal Controls

• Coordinate statutory, internal, tax, and other financial audits.
• Ensure timely closure of audit observations and implementation of corrective actions.
• Develop and strengthen internal financial controls and approval mechanisms.
• Identify financial risks and implement appropriate mitigation measures.
• Ensure compliance with internal finance policies and procedures.

MIS & Management Reporting

• Prepare and present monthly MIS and financial dashboards for senior management.
• Provide analysis on revenue, profitability, costs, collections, margins, and business performance.
• Develop financial models and reports to support business decisions.
• Track key financial KPIs and provide insights to leadership.
• Use Excel, Google Sheets, cloud platforms, and AI tools such as ChatGPT to improve reporting, analysis, and documentation efficiency.

Team & Stakeholder Management

• Lead and mentor the finance and accounting team.
• Define finance processes, SOPs, controls, and reporting structures.
• Collaborate with HR, Sales, Operations, Delivery, Procurement, and senior management.
• Support commercial negotiations by reviewing pricing, margins, contracts, and financial implications.
• Coordinate with technology and operations teams for finance process automation and system improvements.

Required Qualifications

• CA / CMA / MBA Finance preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
• 5+ years of relevant experience in finance and accounting.
• Strong experience in BPO, IT services, SaaS, technology, or other service-based organizations.
• Strong knowledge of Indian accounting and taxation practices.
• Experience handling financial reporting, budgeting, audits, compliance, and MIS.
• Hands-on experience with Tally/Tally Prime.
• Experience with Freshworks or Freshworks-based business workflows.
• Experience working with cloud-based accounting, ERP, finance, or business management platforms.
• Practical experience using ChatGPT or other Generative AI tools for reporting, analysis, documentation, automation, or finance-related productivity.
