Finance Controller

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced, commercially aware Financial Controller to lead our accounts department. Based in Ipswich, this role is responsible for overseeing all day-to-day finance functions and operations across both our UK and EU entities.

Working closely with your team and the Board of Directors, you will manage statutory reporting, annual audit preparations, and HMRC import authorisations (including CFSP/SCDP and AEO compliance). You will also collaborate with the Directors on financial planning, forecasting, and commercial reporting.

A key priority will be collaborating with our technical team to modernise existing processes, leveraging automation to ensure the accounts department operates as efficiently as possible both internally and in support of the wider business.

Essential Criteria

• Proven track record in senior finance roles within businesses of comparable scale.
• Strong accounting background, with relevant professional qualifications (e.g. ACCA, CIMA, ACA) or equivalent qualified-by-experience background.
• Demonstrated technical aptitude with modern financial systems and an interest in automating accounting processes.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking capabilities.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain oversight of balance sheets, financial statements, cash flow forecasting, management accounts, and VAT compliance.
• Lead annual audit preparations and manage statutory reporting requirements.
• Maintain HMRC import authorisations, including CFSP/SCDP and AEO compliance.
• Work with the Directors on financial planning, reporting and forecasting.
• Collaborate with the technical team to refine internal controls, automate workflows, and modernise processes across the finance function.

This is a full-time, on-site role based at our Ipswich office. Free on-site parking is available.

Pay: £30,000.00-£70,000.00 per year
