Job Overview
Finance Coordinator at TCOU at home
Location: Chelmsford/Maldon
Salary: £13 - £15 an hour
Hours: Part time starting at 15 hour a week
Job Type: Permanent
About the Role;
We are looking for a proactive and commercially minded finance coordinator to join our growing care business.
This is an important role within the business function, supporting the business with accurate financial reporting, forecasting, cost analysis and decision-making. We are looking for someone who doesn't just report the numbers, but understands what they mean, asks questions, identifies issues and helps find solutions.
You will work closely with management and operational teams to understand financial performance, monitor costs, forecast future requirements and ensure the business remains financially sustainable while continuing to deliver high-quality care.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare regular financial management reports, including actuals versus budget and forecast.
- Support the preparation and ongoing review of budgets and financial forecasts.
- Monitor income, expenditure, staffing costs and other key business costs.
- Analyse financial performance and identify variances, trends and areas of concerns.
- Investigate why costs or performance are different from expectations and challenge assumptions where appropriate.
- Support cost-to-complete forecasting, identifying the expected final cost of projects, contracts or areas of work.
- Work with operational teams to understand the financial impact of staffing, care hours, overtime, agency costs and other expenditure.
- Identify opportunities to reduce unnecessary costs and improve efficiency without compromising quality of care.
- Provide clear financial information and explanations to managers who may not have a finance background.
- Develop and maintain forecasting and reporting spreadsheets/models.
- Assist with month-end processes and ensure financial information is accurate and up to date.
- Monitor actual performance against forecast and update forecasts when circumstances change.
- Highlight potential financial risks early and work with colleagues to develop practical solutions.
- Support management with financial analysis and ad-hoc reporting as required.
- Help improve financial processes, controls and reporting across the business.
What We're Looking For
We are looking for someone who is analytical, commercially aware and confident asking questions.
You will ideally have:
- Experience in a finance, management accounts, commercial finance or financial analysis role.
- Strong Excel skills and confidence working with spreadsheets and financial data.
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis.
- The ability to understand actual financial performance and explain the reasons behind it.
- Experience analysing costs and identifying opportunities to improve financial performance.
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach.
- The confidence to challenge figures and ask, "Why is this happening?"
- A solutions-focused approach — not just identifying problems, but helping the business work out what to do about them.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work with both finance and non-finance colleagues.
- The ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
Experience within healthcare, social care, domiciliary care or another people-based service business would be advantageous, but is not essential.
The Person
This role would suit someone who enjoys getting underneath the numbers rather than simply processing them.
You will be someone who:
- Notices when something doesn't look right.
- Is naturally curious about costs and financial performance.
- Can turn financial data into clear, practical information.
- Is comfortable challenging managers and asking difficult questions professionally.
- Thinks ahead and can identify potential financial issues before they become problems.
- Looks for solutions and improvements rather than simply reporting problems.
- Understands that good financial management supports the delivery of excellent care.
Why Join Us?
This is an opportunity to join a growing care business where your work will have a genuine impact.
You will have the opportunity to work closely with senior management and operational teams and play an important role in helping the business understand its financial performance, control costs and make better commercial decisions.
If you are a finance professional who wants to be more than just a numbers processor and wants to have a real influence on how a business performs, we would love to hear from you.
To apply: Please submit your CV along with a brief covering note explaining why you would be a good fit for the role.
Pay: £13.00-£15.00 per hour
Expected hours: 15.0 per week
