Finance Director (E-commerce MNC)

Our client is a rapidly growing international e-commerce and consumer products business with operations across Hong Kong, Europe, and the United States. As part of its next stage of growth, the company is establishing Hong Kong as a key global hub and is seeking a commercially minded Finance Director to lead finance operations across multiple jurisdictions and partner directly with the founders.

This is an excellent opportunity for an entrepreneurial finance leader who enjoys building processes from the ground up, operating in a fast-paced environment, and influencing strategic business decisions.

Position Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee the full spectrum of finance activities across Hong Kong, Europe, the UK and the US.
  • Act as a strategic business partner to the founders, providing commercial insights and financial guidance to support the company's rapid international growth.
  • Take ownership of monthly management reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow planning and business performance analysis.
  • Manage group treasury activities, including cash flow management, liquidity planning, banking relationships and foreign exchange (FX) exposure.
  • Develop effective working capital strategies to optimize cash utilization, inventory levels and overall business performance.
  • Oversee banking operations across multiple jurisdictions and ensure efficient management of payment and collection processes.
  • Drive ERP implementation and finance system enhancements to support the next phase of business growth and scalability.
  • Ensure robust financial controls, governance frameworks and compliance processes are established across the group.
  • Lead all tax-related matters across multiple jurisdictions, including corporate tax, indirect tax, VAT, sales tax and transfer pricing considerations where applicable.
  • Partner with external tax advisors and service providers to ensure compliance with local tax regulations across Europe, the UK, Hong Kong and the United States.
  • Monitor and manage international tax risks while identifying opportunities for tax efficiency and process improvement.
  • Oversee statutory reporting, audits, regulatory filings and compliance requirements across all operating entities.
  • Work closely with operations, supply chain and commercial teams to ensure inventory levels, sales performance and profitability remain aligned with business objectives.
  • Manage relationships with external accountants, auditors, tax advisors, banks and other financial service providers.
  • Build, mentor and develop the finance function as the business continues to expand globally.

Position Requirements

  • Degree qualified in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
  • Qualified Accountant (CPA, HKICPA, ACCA, ACA or equivalent).
  • Minimum 10 years' progressive finance experience, including leadership responsibilities.
  • Prior experience within e-commerce, consumer products, retail or other high-growth environments.
  • Demonstrated experience operating within founder-led, entrepreneurial or rapidly scaling businesses.
  • Strong understanding of international tax structures and compliance requirements, including VAT, sales tax, indirect tax and multi-jurisdiction reporting across Europe, the UK and the US.
  • Hands-on experience managing treasury, cash management, foreign exchange exposure and banking relationships.
  • Proven track record in working capital management, inventory control and cash flow optimisation.
  • Experience leading ERP implementation, finance transformation or process improvement initiatives.
  • Strong commercial mindset with the ability to balance strategic planning and hands-on execution.
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, evolving environment with changing priorities.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to work closely with founders and senior leadership.
  • Fluent English communication skills are required. Cantonese is not essential.
