What they need

Are you a finance professional with a passion for architecture and design? This boutique studio offers a rare opportunity to join a team renowned for its bespoke residential architecture, characterised by craftsmanship, integrity, and a distinctive approach to creative living. As a close-knit team with a focus on quality over scale, they empower their staff to take ownership of their roles, shaping the way they run the studio and finance functions. This part-time position (3–4 days/week), with flexible hours and hybrid working options, provides a unique chance to become a pivotal part of a studio committed to meaningful design and a collaborative working environment. If you thrive in a role where your expertise directly supports creative projects and your organisational input makes a difference, this is your moment to elevate your career in a setting that values initiative, professionalism, and personal growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the financial management for the studio, including accounts payables, receivables, project invoicing, WIP schedules, and monthly project financial reporting—driving accuracy and efficiency in our financial processes.

  • Take ownership of payroll, superannuation, and statutory obligations such as BAS, IAS, and payroll tax, ensuring compliance and timely submissions.

  • Maintain precise financial records within Xero, perform regular reconciliations, and generate insightful cash flow and financial reports that support strategic decision-making.

  • Partner with the Director to provide seamless executive support—managing schedules, follow-ups, and prioritising tasks to optimise the studio’s daily operations.

  • Oversee office administration, foster a positive studio environment, and support HR functions such as onboarding and policy administration.

  • Manage business relationships with trusted external providers, ensuring smooth operations and continuous studio performance.

  • Provide bookkeeping support for a part-time external practice (approx. 2.5 hours/week), liaising directly for reconciliations, data entry, and BAS preparation.

Skills & Experience:

  • Proven expertise in end-to-end bookkeeping and financial management, with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
  • Strong understanding of Australian finance compliance, including BAS, superannuation, payroll, and statutory requirements.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Xero and Microsoft Office, with familiarity in practice management software considered advantageous.
  • Exceptional organisational skills, personable approach, and an innate ability to anticipate needs and juggle priorities independently.
  • Experience in the architecture or design industry preferable

Benefits and Culture:

  • Join a boutique, design-driven studio where your work directly influences high-profile residential projects and the studio’s overall success.
  • Enjoy a flexible, hybrid working environment with the autonomy to shape your role and workflows.
  • Be part of a close-knit team that values collaboration, initiative, and a positive studio culture.
  • Opportunities for professional development within a studio that champions quality, craftsmanship, and thoughtful design.
  • Work in a stylish, vibrant studio located in Prahran, with the comfort of flexible days to support work-life balance.
  • Contribute to a practice where your organisational skills and financial expertise are truly appreciated and impactful.
