About the Company

Our client is an emerging finance advisory business that partners with ambitious Australian SMEs to deliver a modern outsourced finance function.

Rather than simply preparing accounts or processing compliance, they work alongside founders to improve financial performance, strengthen finance operations and provide practical commercial advice that helps businesses grow.

Still in the early stages of their journey, the business has quickly established a loyal client base across a range of industries and is building a reputation for delivering a level of service that many business owners struggle to find elsewhere.

As the business continues to grow, they are looking for their first senior Australian hire to work alongside the founder and help shape the next chapter of the business.

About the Role

This is a unique opportunity to join a business at the ground floor and become a key part of its future.

Reporting directly to the Founder, you'll work across a broad portfolio of SME clients, providing hands-on finance support, improving finance processes and becoming a trusted adviser to business owners.

No two days will look the same.

One client may need cash flow forecasting and budgeting, another may need help improving their finance processes, while another may be preparing for growth, a capital raise or expanding into new markets.

As the business grows, you'll also play an important role internally by reviewing work, mentoring offshore team members and helping establish scalable processes that support future growth.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys variety, likes working closely with business owners and wants to help build a business, rather than simply work in one.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner directly with founders and business owners to deliver practical financial advice

• Manage a portfolio of SME clients across a variety of industries

• Prepare budgets, cash flow forecasts, financial models and management reporting

• Review work completed by the offshore finance team and maintain high-quality standards

• Improve finance processes and help clients build more efficient finance functions

• Support client onboarding and ensure a smooth transition into the business

• Mentor team members and help develop consistent operating procedures

• Work closely with the Founder to support the continued growth of the business

About You

We're looking for someone who enjoys rolling up their sleeves and getting involved.

You'll probably bring:

• CA or CPA qualification

• Around 5 to 8 years' experience across public practice and commercial accounting roles

• Strong technical accounting skills together with commercial curiosity

• Experience preparing budgets, cash flow forecasts and financial models

• Confidence working directly with business owners and senior stakeholders

• Excellent knowledge of Xero and cloud accounting systems

• An interest in AI, automation and finding smarter ways of working

• A genuine desire to build long-term relationships with clients and become a trusted adviser

• A hands-on attitude and willingness to help build an exciting young business from the ground up.
