About the Company
Institute of Data is a global education organisation delivering industry-leading technology training across Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and the United States. We're looking for an experienced Finance Manager to lead our growing Philippines office.
As Finance Manager, you will lead a dedicated team of bookkeepers, driving day-to-day financial accuracy and operational efficiency. In this hands-on role, you’ll focus on mentoring your team, streamlining accounting processes, and managing EdTech revenue models, ensuring a seamless financial experience for both our students and internal stakeholders.
About the Role
Lead Finance. Drive Accuracy. Build Great Teams.
Reporting to the General Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day leadership of our Philippines office, ensuring operational excellence across multiple functions. You'll work closely with global leaders to improve processes, drive performance, monitor KPIs and support business growth.
A key component of this role is providing leadership and oversight to our Accounts team. While you won't be performing the bookkeeping yourself, you must have previous experience leading finance teams and a strong understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoicing, reconciliations, cash flow management and financial controls.
What You'll Be Responsible For
- Monitoring operational and financial KPIs, preparing reports and supporting business decision-making.
- Providing leadership and oversight of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, invoicing, reconciliations and cash flow processes.
- Monitoring student payment gateways e.g. Stripe.
- Working closely with the global Finance team to ensure strong financial governance and accurate reporting.
- Conducting 1-on-1s, performance reviews, and daily stand-ups with bookkeepers.
- Reviewing and approving daily/weekly journal entries and reconciliations submitted by the bookkeeping team.
- Managing day-to-day office operations, administration and facilities.
- Overseeing operational workflows and identifying opportunities for automation and continuous improvement.
- Driving a high-performance culture through coaching, mentoring and accountability.
- Supporting recruitment, onboarding and professional development of local staff.
- Collaborating with international stakeholders across Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and the United States.
About You
We're looking for someone who combines strong operational leadership with solid financial understanding.
You'll ideally have:
- Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary teams across operations, administration and finance.
- Previous experience managing or overseeing Accounts teams.
- Strong knowledge of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, reconciliations, invoicing, financial controls and cash flow management.
- Experience using Xero (essential). Experience with other cloud accounting systems such as MYOB, QuickBooks, NetSuite or Sage will also be highly regarded.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including reporting, pivot tables and data analysis.
- Experience with Google Workspace, HubSpot and modern cloud-based business systems.
- Excellent organisational, communication and stakeholder management skills.
- A continuous improvement mindset with the ability to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
- Confidence leading teams in a fast-paced, changing environment.
Experience within education, training or EdTech will be highly regarded, although not essential.
Why Join the Institute of Data?
- Join a growing international organisation with genuine career progression opportunities.
- Lead an experienced and supportive local team.
- Work closely with global leadership and contribute to strategic business initiatives.
- Be empowered to improve systems, processes and the way we operate.
- Competitive salary with opportunities for professional growth.
If you're an experienced leader who understands finance, enjoys developing people and thrives on improving the way businesses operate, we'd love to hear from you.
